I've always been a fan of Monarchy and thier approach to affordable hi-end uncompromising products. This is NEW for 2006....and I want one!

I'll pass the hat around....give what you can, my brothers :D:p

P.s. It's essentially a tubed DAC/PRE.

The faceplate reminds me of a Jeff Rowland integrated. I'm not sure what a digital to analog converter does. Is it a preamp? ...an amp?

Digital to analog converter...like what steveinaz, RuSsMaN, and many others use between their transport and preamp? You use the digital outs on a source to the DAC, and then the DAC converts the signal into an anolog signal for the preamp.

I'd be happy with 8 new silk tweeters, two rebuilt Sda-Srs crossovers and Pamala Anderson in a French Maide outfit. That's not too much to hope for? :)

Yep, me too. I have 2 of them, 1 for each system. I like the Monarchy because it's now tubed and it's a line amp meaning it can run the amp directly and take the place of a pre-amp.

So it's cd --> dac/pre --> amp --> speakers -->. If I'm going to get into tubes this is the perfect way. I really like the fact that even though the Monarchy is $1500 it's replacing both my current DAC and PRE and both sections are tubed. I need to start saving, but this will be my next upgrade.

I bet that damn thing is heavy having 2 torodial's (1 toroidial for each section analog and digital). My brother has a Monarchy Model 33C Dac and a DIP (Digital interphase processor) and another friend has Monarchy Model 22B DAC and they are impressively built and sound fantastic.

Uhmmm.....who knows what a good kidney goes for these days :D .
