Just hit my "Bookmarks" tab and over half of my bookmarks are GONE!

What the hell happened?!

Its just the bottom half of the list. Its like it deleted everything right below the point where you would have to scroll. Anyone know where they all went?

Bookmarks? where are they on here? or are you talking in your browers?

if in your browser... they may have been deleted if you cleaned out your cookies.

    geeeez!

I hope that never happens to me.....I've cleaned out my cookies lots of times and the most it ever did was prompt me to sign in to the forum again.

It's just a theory, but some say they've evolved into true hyperlinks. Traditionalists maintain, however, that they were created in mystery by a higher power and have been called home.

With Windows Explorer (file manager) look in:

    c:\documents and settings\username\favorites

If they're still there, import them back with IE (or whatever browser you use)

    Yes, Im talking about 'Favorites'.

Theyre not in the Documents and Settings folder either.

Thats the damndest thing. I havent cleaned out the cookies lately so I dont know what the hell happened. Thats a pain in the **** too cause I had a bunch in there.

I guess I should run Adaware and see if anything crap has been installed on here.

We have this thing called 'Gateway Go Back' and it has saved me a few times and it un-does what you did........sometimes. I think it reverts the hard drive back in time.

Do a search for favorites (start-search-files and folders). There may be more than one "documents and settings" folder (if you have more than one user configed, and there's a default user profile as well sometimes).

Are you using a browser other than IE? If so, they may be stored in that browser's folder hierarchy.

I have a recollection that you use FireFox - true? Check this link.

    Good luck!

Yeah, Ive got Firefox. Thanks for that link, Ill check it out.

One thing I thought of was that I had an automatic update a couple days back as did my Dad and today he was bitching about how it redesigned his favorites menu. The look and layout had changed a bit (he uses IE). Maybe when mine updated and changed the favorite section it somehow deleted half of mine.

Either way, Ill check out that link and if still no luck it wont be the end of the world to re-do them, just a pain in the ****.

Much thanks for the help fellas.
