After what seems like forever there are not one, but two SRS's on the 'bay in Ohio. One is a pair of SDA SRS 2 with a BIN of $599. The other is a pair of SDA SRS 2.3. Both are well within driving distance.
1) SDA SRS 2
2) SDA SRS 2.3
So, if I am gonna take the plunge, which is the best way to go? Any advice will be appreciated.
Chris

Never heard or seen either. The 2.3 look nicer and that would be my choice.
SDA SRS 2

SDA SRS 2.3
1988 FLOOR, 15" PASSIVE RAD, (6)6.5" MIDRANGES, (3)1" TWEETERS
I would imagine the 2.3's would sell for more. Probably sound better. Just a guess.
Some of the Polk experts would be able evaluate better than I.
Good Luck.Michael

I am leaning toward the 2.3s, but the immediate gratification factor of the BIN is swaying me somewhat.HT Rig

How much are you willing to spend? The 2.3's will most likely go higher than the BIN on the SRS 2's. If your going to upgrade tweeters, you'll have more expense with the 2.3's.
I'd like to try a pair of 2.3's. I am very pleased with my SRS 2's since I've upgraded the crossovers and tweeters.

I've havent seen an owner of the SDA SRS 2 be dissapointed. I was very impressed with the pair I heard at polkfest. would have loved to hear them with the new silk tweet upgrade.
Russman loves his pair, and it seems to be a slammin price for them. I never heard the 2.3's, maybe if they were the TL it would be a tougher choice, but as the situation is, I would get the SDA SRS 2 now and dont look backLiving Room 2 Channel -

I know Noel (ND13) bought the pair of SDA SRS 2's from Polkfest, I'm pretty sure he loves em too. as I think about it more, you cant go wrong with that speaker at that price. keep us posted what you doLiving Room 2 Channel -

There won't be that much difference between those two when it comes down to it. I'll never go any bigger than the SRS 2s, unless I could "steal" a pair of the big boys. With all that being said, I'd still most likely get the SRS 2s, especially seeing that a pair just sold on Ebay for $1100 last week. If I didn't already have mine, I would have already jumped all over those in Cinci. You better get em before someone else takes advantage of the BIN. The 2.3's will likely go for a couple hundred more, I'd think. Use the difference to upgrade the tweeters and crossovers in the SRS2s."SOME PEOPLE CALL ME MAURICE,

Thanks for the advice guys. I made the decision to go for the sure thing and snagged the SRS 2's. Now all I have to do is get them home.
Noel - Do you think I can make them fit in the wife's RAV4 with the seats out?
I will be driving these with an ADCOM GFA-555 (courtesy of Mr. George Daniel). I am afraid that I will have to wait to look into any other power, gotta save up again!
Will the upgrade tweets I just got for my 1B's work in these bad boys?

bert you will be very happy with those speakers i would not trade mine for nothing(well maybe the big guy`s)enjoy.
you probably can fit those in a rav4 but be carefull not to break the binding posts off the back when you slide them in.
if you do mess them up bring them to my house
somewhere in ohioI thought it was fairly amusing also. The Polk Ogre doesn't always get 'it' -
place some padding underneath them too in your vehicle. thick foam or a mattress work well.
congrats on the SRS 2 snag.

I would think so. I had a Grand Caravan to put mine in, which has more space. I also put mine in on their sides, face to face with a blanket in between them just in case they shifted. That way, you don't have to worry about space as much or the binding post issue.
If you replaced sl2000s, then yes, the upgrades will work in the SRS 2s.
The Adcom should be fine. I'm not up on Adcom gear, but these are pretty damn efficient.
Congrats and enjoy. I know you will ."SOME PEOPLE CALL ME MAURICE,

Thanks guys.
I can't wait until tomorrow when I go and pick them up. It's sort of like Christmas Eve!
I'll be using the RAV, and it looks like they'll just fit. If not, I will put the wife on the roof to make more room.
Anyway - I hope to have them unloaded and connected by about 2:30. I'll let everyone know how it goes.

If at all possible, avoid moving ANY vintage polks on their sides. This will greatly increase the chances that the glue holding the magnets fast will fail and you'll end up with a lot of locked drivers. If at ALL possible, lay them flat on their backs.Ludicrous gibs!

nadams is right. lay them on their backs. that worked best for me too. mine made a 7 hour trip just fine.

Oh well, if they'll fit in there flat on there backs, then do that. I'd get out the tape measurer to make sure that they will fit between the fender wells if put on there backs. Mine made it 9 hours on their sides with no problems, but listen to the guys with more experience with them then me. With that said, the only pair I've transported with them on their backs were my Mon 10As, I had to replace one of the drivers after a 40 minute trip home. That could have all just been coincidence. I've only had about a year with Polk speakers, so maybe I just got lucky."SOME PEOPLE CALL ME MAURICE,

ND13- I'm not discounting your experiences, just stating what I've heard time and time again on the forums. While you can still lock a driver with them on their backs, it's not as likely because the suspension of the drivers is taking the hits, instead of the magnets. Couple drying, brittle glue, with the fact that the magnet structures weren't designed to take linear forces, and you have a receipe for disaster...
However, I've also heard of magnets simply falling off when the speakers make trips on their backs. It really is a matter of what you have space for, and what you think will be best. Local pickup is always going to be 1000000x better than getting them delivered, because even on their sides, the speakers are going to be exposed to a lot less of the severe bumps that the back of a truck would have... unless, of course, you're transporting them in the back of a pickupLudicrous gibs! -
all hale the pickup!!!I thought it was fairly amusing also. The Polk Ogre doesn't always get 'it'

Noah,
My post wasn't intended to be confrontational. I was just telling my experiences. I don't think that travel distance has as much to do with it as how well the vehicle that is being used, absorbs bumps."SOME PEOPLE CALL ME MAURICE,
CAUSE I SPEAK OF THE POMPITIOUS OF LOVE" -
When I picked up my SDA 2's, I deliberately did not take my Ranger, 1stly because I would've had to have stuffed a lot of soft stuff in there to keep them from sliding around, and 2ndly because I know how much that back end bounces around.
Instead, I took my dad's car ('99 legacy outback wagon). Speakers fit perfectly, but the thermostat stuck closed, engine overheated, and my dad had to drive my truck down and rescue me. Removed the thermostat, got it back home, to a shop, and found that the head gaskets are toasted. It's still in the shop, two weeks later.Ludicrous gibs! -

Bert,
Glad you got your SDA on, enjoy.

That's all I can say about the SRS. They sound effortless and smooth to me, like they are just laying back waiting for me. I am WICKED glad I picked these up.
Speaking of picking up, I ended up laying them flat with the binding posts down. Worked like a charm.
Overall, they are in decent shape. A few dings here and there, and the bottoms are a bit abused. No feet or spikes came with them. I do have the interconnect (pin/blade). I'll try to post some pictures this weekend.
Thanks again to all for the advice and encouragement.HT Rig
