After hearing all of the great comments about Ron's hand-built sub, I considered building my own...
...then I remembered that I'm just 18, don't know **** about building things, and don't have any tools.
After realizing all of that, I decided just to buy a nice one:

...anybody have any experience with SVS? $750 isn't out of my price range (at the moment) so I'm really considering this model.
What do you guys think?

i haven't experienced this sub personally, but from the reviews, i think you will be happy with it. HSU is another great sub makers. they make similar cylindrical subs (also which i haven't heard), but i own 2 vtf-2's and it's a great sub for the money. it only reaches down to 25hrz though, not the 16 the svs claims to.
you could always try to put your order in with RPmonstersubs though, don't know what he'll charge for labor though...:D -
do you have any frends that know how to use some wood working tools or have any or maybe their parents one of my good frends parent had a woodworking shop in his gurage years back i got him to help me with a project or 2

Joe...Joe...Joe,
My sub cost me just under $350. I have not
personally heard an SVS, but I am willing to
bet my Sonosub will run neck and neck. I know
I'm not getting down to 16 Hz, I'm closer to 19
or 20, but I have yet to calibrate.
With the money you save going D.I.Y., you can
buy your power tools.
All you really need is a jig saw, a router if you
want (not really needed, I did not use mine)
and basic hand tools. There is really no magic
here, just a little sweat and time. It is worth it.
Think about it before you drop that much cash.
Remember to add tax and shipping to that, then
your closer to $850.00.
Peace Out~:DIf...
Ron dislikes a film = go out and buy it.
Ron loves a film = don't even rent.
