    Hi Justin,

    Thanks very much.

However, I don't think the document was accurately reproduced in it's pdf form. It would appear that most of the diagram's figure numbers and labels are missing or misplaced. For figure 2 (the only figure with a figure number and labels) the labeling doesn't seem to make sense. Perhaps some subscripting was left off the diagram.

    Larry,

I'll check with our designers to see what's up. Thanks for pointing that out.

lol It's just a pictorial diagram to help you understand how SDA works lol

lol it is not meant to show how sound travels lol

    It's a 1 dimensional diagram genius.

    Hi,

The diagram is intended to describe the concept of Interaural Crosstalk, not how sound travels.

The first graphic is merely showing a live venue, with a single monoaural source. In this case the purple arrows show sound traveling from the single source directly to each ear, i.e. no crosstalk.

After recording from two microphones and playback to stereo speakers, we have two artifical sources of the sound that reconstruct the two-channel recording to "simulate" the live sound. Unfortunately, an artifact of having two sources instead of one is that now each ear hears sounds from two sources thereby creating Interaural Crosstalk distortion of the sonic image.

This is all the figure intends to illustrate.

I think Trey needs a Pop-Up book style of explanation.
