DVD player HELP?

I have a Sony DVP s360, now before I begin, this is an old DVD player about 6 years old now. I will be watching a dvd when the color will switch to almost a greenish tint. All blues are gone. I noticed it towards the end of one DVD, then it started right away on another. Its not the TV because every thing is fine with cable. I switched to another DVD player and it was fine. I am using component out cables and becuase it worked fine on ythe other DVD player I am ruling that out. Is my DVD player shot? I am saving for a 7.1 receiver so I do not want to pay for another DVD player right now, but I also do not want the temporary one that from my bedroom downstairs (mostly becuase its crap) Any thoughts? If it is shot and I have to buy a new one, what are the recomendations for one no more than $300. My system is:
57" hitachi HD
Technics 5.1 DTS
Since its been 6 years since I bought a DVD player I am kind of out of the loop on whats new. Thank you for reading my rambling, and thanks for helping a newbie.

yeah $300 is about my limit right now. Just bought a ring for my girlfriend so as you can imagine my savings just went low plus my goal is really to spend around $600 for a 7.1 receiver.Sony STR-DG920 7.1 receiver

A couple of quick questions to help us and you out:
What does your system look like right now, as far as speakers?
What inputs do you have on the back of your television? This might make a difference for the DVD player recommended.
What goals do you have for your receiver, other than 5.1?
-Do you want component video switching or conversion?
-What brands have you considered?
There are several DVD players that produce good video at the price point you are looking at.
Also, there are several 7.1 receivers that can perform very well at prices below $600, especially if you don't mind going refurbished or leaving off a couple of features.
BTW, Welcome to the forum.

The Panasonic S77 and S97 are both good bets. They have extremely good video output. For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...
