XRt12 XM Tuner. What is the best way to hook up?

Should I hook up the XRt12 XM Tuner via analog or digital? A Polk rep suggested digital but wanted to get other opinions. My current integrated amp (McIntosh 6500) only has analog inputs. Thanks.

I tried my XRt12 thru my external DAC....Verdict? Because of the limited sound quality of the XM transmission, the tuner sounded essentially the same, but some "artifact nasties" were a little more noticable.

In my system, the XRt12 sounds best on its own (analog connection). A good external DAC just exploits the signals weaknesses more. XM's sound quality does not do any justice to the Polk XRt12, I think the tuner is capable of some beautiful music given a better, less adulterated signal.

Your better off going analog connection.

The DAC in the XRt12 is supposed to be very good, so I would think analog would be fine. Sounds like you have no other option anyways.

    Welcome to the forum,

I have used my tuner in analog since I purchased it and don't plan on ever using the digital output. No problems. Hook it up and enjoy it.
