Rti8´ floor standing speakers
Csi-3 central
PSW-404 subwoofer
with a Yamaha RXV-2500? or Marantz 8500?
I have two questions:
1- I have a mid size room (6 meters x 5 meters) and wondering if the Rti8´s with the other equipment will be ok for this area. How about the Rti10´s?
2- I´ve read that that Polk and Yamaha do not match, but I also have friends with the Yammy hooked up to Polk and it works just fine.

if you like bright sound and DSP coming out the wazoo then get the yamaha. Otherwise, look into the Marantz. Welcome to the forums.

I can't comment on whether or not those speakers are appropriate for your room size. However, if you've heard Polks matched up with Yamahas and liked the sound, there's no reason they won't work together. I'd also look at Marantz, as they make some equally nice receivers that have a warmer sound, opposed to the Yamaha's brighter sound. You might also want to look at something from B&K or Rotel.
Guys - doesn't Rotel make receivers? I know they did, because one of my friends is using one.George Grand wrote: »

Yes Rotel has a couple of nice receivers. I installed an RSX 1056 in a system this year. 5.1 channels with preouts and processing for 7.1. It runs around $1300-$1400. It does upconversion to component video as well. The other receiver is the RSX 1067. Full 7.1 with lots of high current watts. I think it is over $2000 though.
Both nice receivers. If I end up with another receiver, I'd like to get a used 1056 or 1055(older model). They run from $750-$900 used.
Okay, back to the regularly scheduled program.

I'm not a big fan of Yammie Receivers or DVD players. Difficult to use and the receiver amps are a bit lackluster.. The receivers are clear, and clean no doubt..but edgy.and not so impressive soundstage. Too bright for my tastes. I haven't heard the Yam TOTL yet, so I reserve judgement on that piece.
For your setup, I'd stay away from the Yammie. Two Channel Main
Receiver - VSX-54TX
Mains - Csi40's
Sub - Spiked Velodyne Cht-8 On Spiked Landscaping Stones
