Csi3's as surrounds?

Present driver setup:

polkaudio Rti8 Front
polkaudio Csi5 Centre
polkaudio Rti4 Surround

Want to upgrade Rti4 surrounds to Rti6’s. I have a spare Csi3 centre.

My question is………….If I would get a second Csi3 and use both as my surrounds how would that sound? Did anyone try this? Or should I just get a pair of Rti6’s to match my front Rti8's and centre Csi5 6.5" drivers?

as for as timbre matching I think they'll be all the same. The tweeter matching is the important part. As far as mid-bass and the such yeah it's important but for surrounds you should think about price and what you can get.

You're going to upgrade SURROUNDS from 4 to 6. You'll receive more extension and I'm assuming better midbass though i haven't heard either of them. I'm not so sure as if this we'll be worth it.

IMHO I would save the money if you are watching mainly movies and save for seperates, better source, upgraded interconnects, more dvds/cds. I don't think the change would be worth it.


Usually centers are 3/4 the price of a pair of bookshelves thats a very rough estimate that i've found and so I would probably go with the rti6's rather than buying another center if thats what you want to do. If you took my save money advice if you can just rig the csi3 as rear center.

Schriss22.............never thought to use Csi3 as rear centre 6.1. Thanks for your suggestion. The tweeters on Csi3's and Rti6's are the same I think. So tweeter and timber match would be same.

I'm pretty sure they are the same the reason I stated that was because of when you were matching the 6.5 drivers, "Or should I just get a pair of Rti6’s to match my front Rti8's and centre Csi5 6.5" drivers" not a big deal worry about the tweeter more and since they are the same then there is no worry there.
