Any turntable gurus out there?

A couple of years ago, I acquired a Technics SL-D3 Direct Drive turntable at a garage sale for $.25 (yes, as in twenty-five cents). The RCA plugs had been cut off and it had no cartridge or needle. I replaced the RCA Plugs and went to Radio Shack and purchased a cartridge and needle for $40. With a little TLC, it turned out to be in very good working condition. I used it primarily for converting old LPs to CD. With my current setup (i.e. newborn now inhabits what was my office), I don't have room for it to be hooked up to my system and therefore have it sitting in storage right now. I'm curious if it is a turntable worth keeping for future use and/or if it has any value at all.

If we have a nuclear attack and you have some tubes amps laying around to go with the turntable you could be the only person on your block to have music.
