Well, I guess I am just plain WEAK....could not wait and hooked up the Dared.
I've only heard if for 10 minutes or so, but let just say a couple of things:

-IT SOUNDS GREAT; Chinese tubes? Out of the box and no burn in? Who cares? It sounds just SOOOOO much damn GOOD and ALIVE....I just cannot believe it.

-Oh...by the way..I am right now at my study, which is in the first floor, and the rig is in the basement... and I AM CONTROLLING THE VOLUME!!!! This thing is RF I guess; I can increase/decrease volume from anywhere in my house...

-It looks so SEXY.......

Well, I have to say that I cannot believe this thing can sound better... do you REALLY mean it when you say it will sound better when the Chinese tubes have 50 hours on them??? And...EVEN BETTER if I put some nicer tubes like the Mullards that are righ now in UPS's hands coming this way???? Wow....just cannot wait then....see...er...hear to believe.

AND....to all of you that have ever wondered if this glass thingies are really as good as people say...well...they are...and for roughly $400 I think it's a no brainer....

I don't have the right words to say this; I could say better, but that would not mean anything...

It is like the first time I saw HD television ... I just could not find the right words to say what exactly was better....I just knew that I had never seen anything like it.

What I feel right now is something similar; I know I had never heard so much clarity, the sound is "crisp" if that makes any sense; I am listening now to Chick Corea...wow....the piano..the drums..the cymbals..the bass... everything just sounds incredibly good....

EDIT: Just as a side note...I just met Diana Krall; she was in my basement singing Devil May Care. No, I am not crazy; I know she was there because there is no way that voice could have come from my speakers :D:D:D

And the sound stage...it got like 6 feet wider.

Man, did I sleep for a week last night?

Self discipline is overated when it comes to good sound anyway. Try everything you can get your hands on and only keep what sound good to you.

As much as i love tubes, and still do.. I don't think its so much a night and day difference right off the bat as its a new different thing we think should sound good, better, different.. It takes time to get used to tubes and different makes to learn what sounds really good.. My parasound 850 ss pre sounded excellent, i went to the Audio experiance and was kinda disapointed at first because it had a lower gain.. got used to it and liked it. when i got the Dodd i was in love, because it has a real high gain and seemed to drive my speakers harder and thus make better bass and so on.. It wasn't the tubes per say, it was the gain, and the better drive. I'm glad your digging the new tube pre i'm sure it sounds great. BUt i would really listen close at first, try different tubes... and then pop in a SS pre just to see what you have gained, or even lost.. if any..

Enjoy the pre-amp,, tubes are really cool and i love em. I love Vintage tubes the best and i suggest you atleast try some.. :)

LOL. Didn't we tell you that you couldn't last a week:D. Glad you're enjoying it so much. Like I said in another thread. Going tubes is like discovering audio for the first time again.

And yes, using good tubes will make a BIG difference. If you're blown away by the Chinese tubes, your NOS Mullard will make you **** your pants.
