I believe the ELP ships with the Yugos I sent you, Maurice. They are very neutral/flat, too much so for MY taste. I'm sure that many would enjoy the sound of them.
Maurice,
Have you had the chance to try them out, yet?? Or have you even got that pre back from the shop??"SOME PEOPLE CALL ME MAURICE,
CAUSE I SPEAK OF THE POMPITIOUS OF LOVE" -

I don't know what the ELP ships with, but the Sovtek 12AX7LPS that came with my MLP sound very good from top to bottom. They sell for $12 per tube at the http://www.thetubestore.com/.
The only valves I rolled in it are some Baldwin 12AX7, but to me they lack in the highs compared to the Sovtek's.Salk SoundScape 8's * Audio Research Reference 3 * Bottlehead Eros Phono * Park's Audio Budgie SUT * Krell KSA-250 * Harmonic Technology Pro 9+ * Signature Series Sonore Music Server w/Deux PS * Roon * Gustard R26 DAC / Singxer SU-6 DDC * Heavy Plinth Lenco L75 Idler Drive * AA MG-1 Linear Air Bearing Arm * AT33PTG/II & Denon 103R * Richard Gray 600S * NHT B-12d subs * GIK Acoustic Treatments * Sennheiser HD650 * -
Yeah, I think the Baldwins (Raytheon's) are laid back a little. Probably better for overly bright systems. I just tried some Raytheon 5751's, which are a very highly regarded 12AX7 replacement, and kind of thought the same way about them too.2 channel - Willsenton R8 tube integrated, Holo Audio Spring 3 KTE DAC, audio optimized NUC7i5, Windows 10 Pro/JRiver MC29/Fidelizer Plus 8.7 w/LPS and external SSD drive, PS Audio PerfectWave P3 regenerator, KEF R3 speakers, Rythmik F12SE subwoofer, Audioquest Diamond USB cable, Gabriel Gold IC's, Morrow Audio SP5 speaker cables. Enough tube talk already! Lets talk power cord upgrades for equpt. without removable cords, just what options are there. If a cd player can improve that much and I might add the stock power cord was pretty heafty, how would my 270 watt power amp with it's wimpy lamp cord improve? Is it possiable to do a cord upgrade on it?

Sorry it's a double take!

Noel,
The pre is still in the shop. Gary is working on it thanks to Russ. He'll be upgrading caps too.
I'm using my ASL pre right now.
The Yugo looks very interesting. It's actually made by Ei. Looks like a copy of A frame Ampex. Man, I've got some interesting 6DJ8/6922 to play around with when I get it back.
