I'm thinking of picking up a dvd recorder sometime in the future. I usually check amazon.com and some other sites to get some feedback on the units.
The prices have fallen sharply and a dvd recorder and hd storage unit is actually within my means now.
Many dvd recorders will not copy videotapes with copy protection on the tapes so you may need to take that under consideration too.
Other options are a professional service to transfer your tapes to dvd, or use your computer and a video capture card and dvd burner. But only if you like fiddling with things. I do this right now and it's a bit of a pain but doable.
Good luck with your search.

Thanks.
I was going to use a service but I have about 60 tapes to dub. At $10 per, I could by a couple recorders. :eek:Everytime I think I'm out, THEY PULL ME BACK IN!!!!!!

Panasonic makes a nice one, i don't know the model#, though. It's in the $300 range. Sony makes a couple, also. I've always had good luck with anything Panasonic makes, videowise."SOME PEOPLE CALL ME MAURICE,

I don't know if it applies to DVD, but Yamaha always had a VERY good reputation on their CD writers, in fact they were recommended by Stereophile for CD copying.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2

I have a friend that bought the top of the line sony DVD recorder 2 years back. It does a very nice job of copying. She did a copy of transfers from VHS for me and I was very happy with the quality.____________________________________________________________
