This was my first post:
Break in for LSi7

I have just received a new set of Polk LSi7s. I know they need to be broken in, but I am not sure how to do this correctly. Any help would be appreciated.

I am running them with a Yamaha rx-v2092.

Thanks.

This is my 1000th, so I thought I would do a little reminiscing.

When I first came to this forum, I had just bought a set of LSi7's on ebay. I paid $330 shipped for them. They were the old style, and from what I can gather, they were probably the refurb ones from Fryes.

I was using a free Yamaha receiver that handled them pretty well. I know they would have been better with separates, but I was under a budget.

I do find it appropriate that today, while I creaped to my 1000th post, I scored another set of LSi7's, for even less than the first set.

I don't have anything to drive them at the moment, but that will come in time.

A lot has happened over the last year and change, but my appreciation has grown by leaps and bounds.
With some help from the mainstays on the forum, as well as some newbies, I have come to the following realizations:

I realize that I will HAVE to attain some SDA's some day(With a common ground amp or the appropriate cable).
High power does not kill speakers, distortion does.
Bruce(Tour) is always right.
Separates really do provide astounding results.
The new RTi's are not as ugly as I first thought.
The LSi's are still really good speakers.
My wife likes tower speakers more than bookshelf ones(based soley on looks).
Parts Express is my friend.
A crazy good deal CAN come back to bite you in the butt.
AVIA's Guide to Home Theater is all it is cracked up to be.
My wife likes audio and misses the fact that we have not even had a radio for 3 months.
Eventually I will delve into tubes, but not yet.
*
I could go on and on, but there is an end in site.

For my next 1000 posts, I hope to provide as much helpful information as has been provided me.

Have a good one everyone.

Zach

* I reserve to make changes to my realizations without the prior approval by a committee or a formal hearing.

Hey Zach, congrats on 1000. Too bad we never got a chance to meet up when you were in St. Louis. I'm moving back to Iowa this weekend. You ever make it up that far?

Why couldn't you move next month? :(
I'm probalby coming to St. Louis the 3rd-5th of November. Was planning on PMing you, but we haven't put things in stone yet, so I hadn't said anything.

As far as Iowa goes, it has been a few years since I visited there. I've got an uncle that lives in Des Moines and an Aunt that lives in Mason City. I haven't been there for at least 7 years. With our little one, it makes traveling long distances difficult.

Doesn't someone else in St. Louis work at an a/v store? I know Toxis works at Neb Furn Mart in KC, but I thought there was someone elese in St. Louis as well.

Have a good move. Will you be working at a similar place in Iowa as well?

Yeah, same place, just transferring back so I can be closer to my family. Can't think of anyone else from CP that works here in electronics. If you ever need anything, let me know though.
