Well, I had an unexpected bonus come from work and I finally got a decent powerbar/conditioner.

Let me first start by stating I was on the fence when it came to PC's...I knew from experience that it could change the sound, my biggest concern was, would it improve things or detract, or a mix of both? I have had my eye's on a few Changlightspeed's, a monster HTS2000, Richard Gray Power Company, PS Audio Ultimate outlet. I didn't have access so whatever I decided to go with would have to work or be sold. All my research to this point had been based on opinions of others. I talked to a number of people that had the dough to play around. Everybody I talked to agreed that the Richard Gray stuff was legit, wouldn't screw anything up and might actually help. It was a relative who put me onto Blue Circle's "Music Bar".

He had owned a RGPC 400 series and needed a few more outlets. He tried the BC606 and was thrilled at the results, and *GASP* was cheaper then the RGPC. I found a good online dealer who was prompt, helpful, and gave me a very good price. I got this thing 1 day after sending him an online form. I'm lucky in the sense that Blue Circle is handmade in Ontario Canada, and that's my province. It was shipped directly from their factory in Innerkip Ontario to my house.

At any rate, I yanked out my old Acoustic Research "Master Series" power bar, and put the BC606 in. I opted for the standard hospital grade powercord. there are two upgraded cords that are offered, but I've been burnt on Power Cords that did nothing for me in the past so I passed. All the outlets use Hubbell duplex's, each powercord going in is snug to say the least, and some strength is required in pushing your powercables in. My Moray James didn't want to go in, but after a good push with both hands, it sunk in and was in very tight. The exterior cable that goes to the wall was nifty in the sense that it uses a unique twist connection to the detached powercord. See the website for a photo, its hard to explain.

I quickly searched for a number of my personal reference CD's and quickly filled away at songs I knew line for line, bar for bar. Right away I heard an openness and increase in vocal dynamics. The background was much blacker, bass has decreased. I'm not sure its a decrease in dynamics, but just a more usefull sense of it. It's tighter and doesn't get in the way of vocals ever. I don't wish for more bass, and I dont sense I'm losing anything. Alot of boom has left, replaced with an more musical sense of what bass should be. Let me finish by just saying the sounds coming from my setup now are more musical. They seem "right".

Concluding this is a great value product. It does what it should and doesnt' screw up anything in the process, which is rare in a hobby with constant tradeoffs. I will also re-examine my theory on snake oil power cords. I understand the science behind powercables but have never heard a difference. I think now that some of the garbage and haze is gone I might actually hear a difference among power cables, time will only tell. To anybody interested...if you do get one of these opt for the upgraded PC perferably the BC62, I've heard its their best value and makes an even bigger sonic impact on the BC606 Music Bar.
