    Who has the lead role?
Oh, you hate your job? Why didn't you say so? There's a support

From what I heard, it is a kept secret, but rumors have Catherine Zeta-Jones in the lead. Anyone else hear any different?

There is no lead picked out yet. From IMDB here is the list of contenders...

    Charisma Carpenter
    Kim Basinger
    Lucy Lawless
    Salma Hayek
    Michelle Rodriguez
    Sarah Michelle Gellar
    Sandra Bullock
    Nadia Bjorlin
    Mischa Barton
    Rachel Bilson
    Jennifer Lopez

Most on that list and including Catherine Zeta-Jones are just wrong for the lead.

Out of that whole group the only one I know could definately pull it off is Lucy Lawless. Right height, right color hair. right body shape & she's already used to that kind of a role.

Who was smoking what when the thought SMG could possibly pull this off? Yes she can kick butt, but she is all wrong in every other way.

Totally agree here. Probably most suited for the part.

Unfortunately she (Lawless) can't carry a film or draw an audience.

Suprised Beckingsale wasn't listed, she's interested (but wrong again)

I would like to see an unknown in the role.

Why do you say this? She carried a series for 6 years just fine. And you shouldn't discount the fans from that series turning up in droves to see it.

She's a good actress. Give her a good storyline and a strong supporting group of actors and it will do just fine.

She has no mass market appeal and most people won't be able to turn off the "Xena" stereotype that the mass public has.

Can you think of one star in a show like that that has become a big screen draw outside of a big screen adaptation of their series? Too much money will be invested in this movie to take that risk. It is less of a risk to use an unknown and let the charactor be the draw than to go with Lawlas (Even thought she would be good)

Lawles would be a bad idea. She is type-cast as Zena and that's what everyone would see her as. Like I said, they need a no name new comer for this roll.

A no name is best, or, Um Charlize Theron? Quality actress, tall enough, good draw.. About the only actress that is famous that I'd think that would do a reasonable job would be her.
