I've expressed some interest in a pair of 7's from a dealer but one of the speakers has a blown woofer (I got $10 say they were fed through a crapass receiver).

Anybody know what the clubpolk discount is for one of these woofers?

There is also a pair of LSi7's on ebay with a blown woofer. They may end up going cheap so you might want to post what you find out about the cost of the woofer. (or save some cash and purchase these - then again - if the woofer is blown - who knows what else is wrong with them.

I'm the high bidder right now(was first bidder Monday) and he has given me an opportunity to end the auction early with an appropriate offer. I was about to email him back, but then found this thread. I would like these speakers and will make an offer to him sometime today. If someone wants them more, PM me so we don't overcompete them. However, since this is ebay, I know what I'm willing to pay for them, so I will probably make my offer to him and if someone makes a higher one that is fine.

I pm'd him as well. Hopefully one of us will get a response in this thread or through a pm. If you find out, let me know. I'll do the same if I find out.

I've sent him an offer, so we'll see what he thinks.

For what it's worth okie, i'd ask for some pics, and ask whoever's selling it what he was using to drive those speakers with. If they were being underdriven, as is usually the case, how do you know the other drivers are in good condition?

The pictures in the auction are good enough for me. I made my offer with the expectation of replacing at least 2 drivers.

I've had one set of LSi7's and would like another pair. I used an older Yamaha receiver (2092). I paid $300 for them on ebay last year. My brother has the old pair now and won't sell them back to me. He is using a NAD amplifier bought from Russman this spring.

Good luck with the purchase. I have 4 of them and really like the sound. (currently running 5.1).

I looked at the pics and they do look good. (appears to be a newer style LSi with no seams in the gloss black) I wonder how they blew the woofer and didn't hurt the tweeter? I have heard the ring radiator was a little more resistant to blowing but I have not heard any reasons why.

Has anyone heard the price on the replacement woofer for these? He has accepted my offer, but I would still like to know how much the replacement is before I commit any money.

Yep, they are mine. I paypaled my money this afternoon after I talked to him on the phone to make sure everything was kosher.
They were a demo set from a Tweeter in CA. In my plans, I set aside enough money for at least one woofer, possibly more. He also sent a picture of the "damage". It was fine for me.

I should have them by Mon or Tues.

Congrats. I hope everything works out with them. I purchased both sets of my 7's used and couldn't be happier with them.

Were you able to get them from Tweeter or from someone who got them at tweeter? Maybe you can get a warrantee with them as well...

    Anyway - good find.

Mine came today, but I have to wait until I get home to open them up and inspect them. I haven't ordered the replacement woofer yet. I want to make sure nothing else needs replacing before I placed an order.

Well, it turns out that both woofers are bad :( .

I emailed the seller and hopefully we can work something out. I know it isn't a huge deal, and I "planned" to replace two woofers, but I bought them on a certain premise. That premise wasn't met, so I want to try to work it out. It is more difficult to determine if the tweeters are bad, but they both still play and I don't seem to rattle, buzz, or sound overlyfaint. Are there any other tests for tweeters?

I did pay the extra paypal fee to guarantee the items description and such.

Before I bought them, I talked to the guy on the phone and he seemed pretty reasonable, but he is a few thousand miles away, so who knows what might happen.

I'll let everyone know how it all turns out.

Got an email from the seller last night. He said he didin't hear anything wrong with it, but if I am willing to keep them, he would consider paying for the extra woofer.

I paid $220 shipped for the broken set of LSi7's. By the time everything is done, I will have less than $300 into them, so they were still a good deal if everything works out.

I'll have the replacements by next week. I'm just hoping the crossovers and tweeters are okay.

Oh, and I forgot to answer one of the questions above. They were purchased from Tweeter by the seller. At the price I paid, I wasn't too concerned with an extra warranty or anything. Even replacing some of the stuff is cheaper than getting a whole other set.

    And the story continues..........

I emailed him and he refunded me the money for the extra woofer. I'll look for more items from this seller. He deals with a lot of higher end items, so I might find something else I want.

Good score. Anything under $300 is a steal for the 7's. (Under $400 is just a really good deal..:) )

Enjoy the speakers - I am sure you will love them. What are you planning for them? (HT or 2 channel - and what are they going to be running with?)

Momentarily, they are prescribed as a 2 channel rig. If I can come up with a good integrated amp, then I'll keep them 2 channel.

If not, then I would like to get a full front of 7's again, and put some good inwalls behind.

At the present moment, they are being run with a mid 90's Yamaha receiver. Not much, but it makes sound.

We'll see how they do with new woofers. Hopefully that is all that is wrong with them.
