Want to use my CS400i Canter
Im hoping that you guys have some suggestions or some advice. I am currently finishing a dedicated media room in my basement. It measures 10'5" W x 15'5" L, with 8' ceilings. I currently have a CS400i center from a previous system and would like to use it if at all possible. ( Do you think that it is too much for this size room?).
And want do you suggest for main speakers? Should I be looking for a used pair of RT55i's or would the RTi6's do the job? I am probably going with an in-ceiling speaker for the rear because the back row will be against the back wall.
I am also planning on front projection.
Any and all suggestions would really help out!
Thanks!!!

relativly small room, so the Rti6's will easily and effectivly get the job done, but will not be an exact timbre match tweeter wise with your center. Look for some RT55i's, if not, you should be perfectly fine with the RTi6's. worst case scenario, you get the CSi3 or 5 later.Living Room 2 Channel -

Thanks ohskigod,
I've seen a couple pairs of RT55i's on ebay for the same price as the RTi6's new. I wanted to just make sure that I was not going overboard in the speaker department based the size of my room... -

Yes you definately are, but isn't that what upgrading is all about? Oh no, now I have to get a bigger house for my HT.
Overkill rarely happens with the main speakers, more likely with huge subs.HT Optoma HD25 LV on 80" DIY Screen, Anthem MRX 300 Receiver, Pioneer Elite BDP 51FD Polk CS350LS, Polk SDA1C, Polk FX300, Polk RT55, Dual EBS Adire Shiva 320watt tuned to 17hz, ICs-DIY Twisted Prs, Speaker-Raymond Cable

There is NO WAY IN HELL that you are over killing anything with your speaker selection. The 55i is the bomb but I can't agree that the 6 would not mate up with the 400i. If you could hear the difference I'll buy the beer...
Your on your way to a fine set up and now all you need is an SVS Sub and thats NOT OVERKILL either Dennis

You most definalty would hear the difference between the 400i and the rti6. My vote is a strong and loud 55i. They will match perfectly with your cs400i and i beleive the 55i to be superior to the rti6 in all aspects. (Just make sure you get a nice solid stand for the 55i's if you get em' -
Another option that may be easier to find would be the RT800i or RT600i. Either would be a seamless match and you wouldn't need to buy stands. My vote would be for the RT55i as I have a pair that I WILL NOT part with...but the floorstanders are a good alternative.
And since it is a small room, If you can find the RT35i it too would work well as fronts for a HT rig and would also be a good match with the CS400i."Just because youre offended doesnt mean youre right." - Ricky Gervais
