"At BASF, we don't make alot of the products you buy. We make alot of the products you buy better."

Boy, I'm sure the stock holders are pissing in their pants with excitement to that one

back in the 80's i remember they put their name on videocassettes. Other than that, beats the hell outta me...

BASF is like DOW, they make components, among other things for other companies to use in their products, hence the slogan.

They make the flexing agent that many automotive paints that are specified for use on urethane and fiberglass body parts so your paint doesn't chip too badly when you run over a parking guard,

They make the binding agent that gets that paint to stick to plastic in the first place!

They make the material that the platters are made of that your Seagate, Western Digital, Maxtor, etc...hard drive uses to store your ****.

They make the glowing coating on the inside of the monitor that allows you to view your **** from the hard drive that you have that stores your **** that you probably screwed up your bumper on the parking guard when you went to go purchase said hard drive from the store. BTW, BASF probably put the reflective crap in the reflective ink that the barcode on the UPC for that hard drive was printed with.

Oh yeah, they also make that mylar like coating on the inside of the candy bar wrapper of the candy bar you were staring next to the tabloids that BASF probably provided some of the pigments in the ink to print that tabloid, while you were waiting in line to buy the hard driver to store the **** and think about how stupid it was of you to crack up your bumper on that parking guard in the parking lot.

BTW, BASF probably also made the refelctive stuff in the yellow paint that the parking guard was painted in to make sure that you saw it and wouldn't run over it with your car and screw up your car. Then again, you were probably thinking about all the **** you could collect with that new hard drive when you cracked up your car to begin with and I don't think BASF makes anything to fix that.

Badische Anilin und Soda Fabrik... a German conglomerate who make all kinds of stuff. Mostly chemicals (doubt that they still make aniline or 'soda', though), polymers, that sort of thing. Big ol' BASF plant by the Jersey Tpk (at least, I THINK it still says BASF on it). They made audio and video tape for many, many years.

I like their business stance.. 'We don't spend our time reinventing, or creating the next hot product..we take existing ideas and hone them in.'
..although I'm sure they've reinvented a few things.

BASF makes a little bit of everything. One thing they usually don't make is a finished consumer product. We make additives and ingredients to other things. The chemical industry is tough in that there is a liability for products long after it has been sold to the consumer.

    We also do it responsibly.
