I thought I'd make a new thread for this instead of derailing the AIW vid card thread. For those who don't know what a Hauppauge delie is here's the link to the website http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/products/data_pvr150.html
So I got a Hauppauge WinTV150 the other day. It's pretty damn cool... I've turned my pc into a low end HTPC now, or rather combined my ht system, tv and computer into one. The original idea was to use the video inputs on the wintv150 and just run the audio to my AVR to keep the 5.1 goodness and not have to run the audio through my computer. Well this worked but it decided to throw a one or two second delay into things while it processed the video, so I had massive lip syncing problems. My final decision was to 86 the 5.1 system all together!
Personally, I thought the tuner would have provided a slightly better picture but it's fairly decent. I'm using a pretty small screen and sit far enough away that the lack of clarity isn't very noticable. Other than that it's really cool. The remote even works to control iTunes so when I'm not doing any critical listening I can use that or my pocket pc to control it. I have yet to find a free television listing service that does canadian tv listings. So far the ones I've found like Sage TV and titian TV don't do listings for canada. I'll try and see if I can get a full copy of beyond tv running.
I spent all day today rearranging my room to accomodate this new setup. Got rid of tons of crap in my jam packed room and now I have my marble flexy rack in the middle with my 2 ch NAD componnents. That marble rack is awesome but a freakin pain in the ****. It with nothing on it weighs over 100 lbs. (20+/shelf, with 4 shelves) Anyhoo, my room looks a lot bigger (pics to come soon) and now that I'm able to push back my front speakers a little and the fact that I have half as much crap to absorb the sound I have gained a lot of bass. So far I havn't quite decided if it's too much but it did fool me at first. I went to turn my sub down a little because I thought it might have been turned up more than normal only to my suprise find that I had not even hooked it up to my integrated amp yet....
Here's a screenshot I took with WinTV2000.

Couple pics of the new setup...
the wiring might look a little jumbled but it's actually pretty organized
