Polk RTi8's vs. Polk RTi10's

I know there is a post for RTi8's vs. RTi12's but I am looking at either the RTi8's or RTi10's to run off my Pioneer Elite 56TXi A/V Receiver. I currently own a pair of RTi70's which I assume are comparable to the RTi8's. I run a Polk PSW10 sub.

I use my system for 90% home theater. My question is, am I better off going with the RTi8's and a good sub (12" instead of 10"), or purchase the RTi10's and stick with the 10" sub I have.

I have auditioned both with music and find the RTi8's more detailed than the RTi10's. I have not auditioned them for movies.

Any comments are appreciated.

I'd keep the RTi70's and put all your money towards a new sub.

But if you continue down the 8 vs 10 road, then I'd say the 10 is flatter sounding and the 8 accentuates the midrange more. Pick whichever you like the sound of.

+1. Especially the advice on upgrading subs. If you like the sounds of the rti70- then don't upgrade. The new rti's have a totally different tweeter to them. Some like it, others don't.

I just bought the Polk t90e Euro's from HiFi Buys. I plan on buying the RTi8's as a trade up that they offer. I listened to both the 8's and 10's with the movie Drum Line and with a cd, Mint Condition - Pretty Brown Eyes. The 8's, to me, sounded much better then the 10's. I would have purchased the 8's but money was an issue. I bought the Euro's so I could trade them for the 8's when I had all the money saved. Only my personal opinion, but the 10's are flat. I do not know what the Rti70's sound like so I can not say anything about them or about getting a new sub. What kind of center do you run?

While I think the newer RTi-line is much better sounding than the old, I think you are better off with a new sub. Then I would get a used separate amplifier and then you're ready to make the next jump which is to the LSi's. :)

I think the Rti10's sound the best over the 12's too.
