New Subwoofer Cable

Got a new sub cable today. What a difference! Not only is the bass cleaner and tighter, but lower. Not that I'm new to the concept that a better cable will produce better results, but I was surprised at how much of a difference I noticed. My old cable was a Sub-X from audioquest, 4.5M long. For the new one, instead of one of their dedicated Sub cables, I used a 4.5M Jaguar interconnect, a triple balanced analog interconnect cable. The cable costs as much as the sub-$440. Of course, for me it was free, so what the hell. Pretty awesome!

So how much lower does the sub play now? What did you use to measure the new frequency response?

I did not have time to measure. I just listened to material that I'd listened to in the past, and felt a palpable difference in the heft of the low frequencies. Maybe it doesn't play lower per se, but it certianly carries more weight in the lower frequencies. Like I could feel the lows even more noticably than before.

As far as getting a free Jag, well, that's one of the perks of working at Magnolia: Audioquest points.

The Copperhead is definitely a decent sub cable as well. Interesting difference between a single coax sub cable and a triple conductor analog one.
