2000 GMC 4 door dually. I recently purchased a new sony head unit that is rated
52x4, I went with the Polk front componet system DB6500 that is rated at 100 watts RMS, and the DB460 4"x6"s' that are rated at 40 watts RMS. When I turn the head unit over 3/4 the way up it starts to distort. Is this because they are so under powered? Will an amp help this? There not quiet as loud as Id like them. Any suggestions on an amp or how I should set this up? I also have 2- 10" kicker comps running off a kenwood 350 watt amp max not RMS so those are under powered also but are giving me plenty of the higher bass, still missing the lower bass though. Any sugestions on my setup? I still have plenty of room under my rear seat for a bigger sub later. It sounds good but it seems like its still missing something. Any suggestions on my next addition would be appreciated.

More then likely the receiver is distorting. Aftermarket headunits are rated at peak power, so the 52x4 is in reality 10 wattsx4 continuous which would barely get over the road and engine noise. A good quality aftermarket amplifier is the ticket here.-Eric
