Shot in the dark about Adcom repair in Indy

I'm thinking my almost 20 year-old Adcom GFA-545 is in need of some freshening. It just seems off too me. It's a little thin sounding and doesn't have the oomph I remember it having. So I'm looking for a reputable repair person who maybe specializes in amp restoration.
I found a guy from Indiana K-amps (Arif) who claims to specialize in restoring/ modding Adcoms among others. His e-bay feedback is 100% (302) and has been a member since 2002. I found out about him on another board as he and I have been corresponding and talking to him about my Adcom. He sent me a PM letting me know about his restoration business (I think he is a former tech).
The big question is has anybody here heard of him or used him in the past. He seems to have a solid rep on ebay and the other forum. Problem is when he PM'd me he told me not to let it get out that he does this. If it did he'd have so many offers he couldn't keep up. This is a hobby for him and I am suprised he PM'd me. I'm very leary but at the same time his e-bay feedback is excellent and he has been a regular contributer on the other forum.
I need to think awhile on wether I might take my chances and send my Adcom to Indy to have him test/tweak it and get it back to new, or use the guy in town who has the personality of 2x4 and won't explain anything about what he has done or what could have caused it.
Any input?

Hey Heiney,
Weird he does not want you to tell anybody about him. Having good feedback is promising though.
The local guy to you with the personality of a rock really sucks too......I have a tendency not to be nice to those kind of people.
I live here in Indy if there is anything I can help you with give me a shout. Maybe I could ask our local hifi dealer if they do repairs or modifications...
..............Good Luck whichever way you go.Denon #2900, Denon stereo receiver, Conrad Johnson Sonographe 120 amp, Blue Jeans cables, and Klipsch RF-7's -
My strong advice would be to call Adcom and seek out an authorized repair facility. Anything else is way too risky.
