Perhaps we are asking the wrong questions during
election years. Our Senators and Congressmen do not
pay into Social Security and, of course, they do not
collect from it. Social Security benefits were not
suitable for persons of their rare elevation in
society.
They felt they should have a special plan for
themselves. Many years ago they voted in their own
benefit plan. In more recent years, no congressperson
has felt the need to change it. After all, it is a
great plan.
For all practical purposes their plan works like this:
When they retire, they continue to draw the same pay
until they die, except it may increase from time to
time for cost of living adjustments.
For example, former Senator Byrd and Congressman
White and their wives may expect to draw
$7,800,000.00 (that's Seven Million, Eight-Hundred
Thousand), with their wives drawing $275,000.00
during the last years of their lives. This is
calculated on an average life span for each.
Their cost for this excellent plan is $00.00. Nada.
Zilch. This little perk they voted for themselves is
free to them. You and I pick up the tab for this plan.
The funds for this fine retirement plan come directly
from the General Funds--our tax dollars at work!
From our own Social Security Plan, which you and I
pay (or have paid) into--every payday until we retire
(which amount is matched by our employer)--we can
expect to get an average $1,000 per month after
retirement. Or, in other words, we would have to
collect our average of $1,000. monthly benefits for
68 years and one (l) month to equal Bill Bradley's
benefits!
Social Security could be very good if only one small
change were made. And that change would be to jerk
the Golden Fleece Retirement Plan from under the
Senators and Congressmen. Put them into the Social
Security plan with the rest of us and then watch how
fast they would fix it

I don't know about you, but I just get a warm fuzzy feeling when I look at my pay check stub and see the 2 Franklin's and some change that gets trimmed right off the top for income tax. Gets even better when I see my wife come home with her feet swollen from being on them working all day. I'm so glad that our sacrifice is going to help fund such a worthy cause. I say pay the S.O.B's no more than 50G a year, and make them pay into IRA"s. Then you'd find out which of them are REALLY dedicated to their job's, and which one's are just suckling the government ****. Agree with you 100% my friend!!

These are elected officials designated to run some of the most influencial positions in society. You get what you pay for. I don't want some schmuck speaking for me.
50K/yr wouldn't pay for one of my company's I.S. people. And I'll be damned if I'll vote/pay for anybody of their caliber.
Through enough petitions/awareness/vocalization/votes even U.N. bylaws can be changed.Make it Funky! -

Are they really speaking for you? Do you really think that's how they vote on issues? Maybe I have missed something over the years! I too don't want some "schmuck" speaking for me. I would rather see a coal mine worker and a school teacher representing me than the multi-millionaire lawyers that make up some 80 percent of Congress. I know this is the greatest country in the world and I am very proud of it, but we should not let this "big money special interest" continue to buy votes, buy judges, buy right to our parks and wildlife reserves. This is the U. S. and the way I see it that spells us, you and I, not the railroad or oil companies. Hell, sometimes it just good to **** and fuss and get it of you chest!Oh, the bottle has been to me, my closes friend, my worse enemy!
