Crazy Weekend

Well Fri night up until last night we were pumping out my mother's basement after all the rain we had. It rained hard for something like eight straight days here. There was so much water that the water was coming up from under the basement floor. The 1/3hp sump pump with a gardenhose was, at one point, just keeping pace so the water didn't rise. Grabbed a 2" hose the next day and that pump opened up and drained the basement rather quickly. Pump was good until two inches remained on the floor so the rest had to be wet vacuumed for two dayyyyys..water finally stopped coming in last night.
Thank god we just had water damage that did not break anything: the dryer, oil burner etc, were all fine. There were reports of people with 6 feet of water in their basements. Some houses were condemed by the fire dept. A local radio station had people calling in saying their insurance would not cover the damage because it came from underneath the house. I feel bad for those people.
In the end there was a lot of sore backs and muscles but it could have been worse.
Perspective (and a sump pump) was our friend this past weekend

My brother (the plumber) did it to my house and I just did it to my mom in laws house, finished yesterday.........
Get the water from the gutters away from the house and without seeing your house I am 99.999% sure it will help.
4" pvc pipe from the base of the downspout out away from the house underground. REALLY just 3-4 hours work.Denon #2900, Denon stereo receiver, Conrad Johnson Sonographe 120 amp, Blue Jeans cables, and Klipsch RF-7's -
send some of that water down here...we're way short here in tejax...
