HI All,

I've recently purchased 2ea monitor 70's, 1ea CS2, and 1ea PSW12. I'm ready to complete the system with surround speakers. I've been looking at either purchasing 4 bookshelf/home theater satellites or some thing like the fxi3's.
I currently have a 5.1 system but am thinking toward a 7.1.
Can you use the fxi's in a 7.1 system? I've never seen Polk data on that subject, Or would I be better off with some rm10 or rm7200 satellites?

Use you can use a the FX's for either the side or rear speakers. Most folks put them on the sides. Use a couple of step ladders as temporary stands until you've had a chance to play with the placement options. Make sure you calibrate using an Sound Pressure Level meter after each change to get the best possible sound from your system.

Take a look at the Polk Audio Home Theater Handbook for more info regarding placement and set up options.

yes you can. For 7.1, movies or music, I recommend the bipole setting for all IV. It's a nice give and take between diffuse dipole and direct monopole. Welcome to the forums.

    Radmax,

Like Aaharvel stated, I have my HT setup with FXi3's for both surround sides and back on my 7.1 system. I have all of them set to bipole and enjoy a very encompassing sound stage.

    Hello Radmax,

I too am a fan of FXis as surrounds all the way. I took aaharvels suggestion on inverting by setting the FXi3s inverted in the rear and set to bipole, with the FXi5s on the sides set in the normal L/R positions set to Dipole. They will work fine with the Monitor series, as surrounds.
