Hi, I just set up my system, and the sound from the back speakers, is not as loud as the front, and center speakers. I ran the test with the deck, and I get the white noise sound and the tapping sounds, that the test produces.

Is that the way it should be, or is somthing wrong?

Tapping sounds?? Don't know about that.

Read your manual, it should be a big help.

yeah tapping sounds. My deck does both during the test. I did read the manual, and it does not say anything about the rear speakers, not being as loud as the fronts.

Hello, welcome to CP. You should get a SPL meter from Radio Shack & a calibration disc such as Avia and redo the test.

I found that I had to turn up my rear speakers to get them level with the fronts. Between that and burn in of the speakers, which suddenly made them come to life it sounds good now.

How do you have your source connected to your reciever? Are you using a fiber optic cable or coax cable? If you are using standard stereo pairs (a right - left wire (usually red and white) that came with your DVD player that may be your problem.

If you get sound when you run the test tones in your reciever but no sound (in the back speakers) when playing a dvd that may be your problem.

sounds like he has a Yamaha tuner with the YAPO- It should set it correctly...if not- can go into menu and manualy adjust settings. Having the Rat Shack meter as mentioned above can help as well.
