Welcome to the forums.
The lack of responses to your question may indicate a lack of members having to replace tweeters in RT2000s. You could try using the search function and type in RT2000p to see what comes up. -

If they sound the same to you, that is all that matters. Polk no longer carries the trilaminate tweeter originally found in the RT series. They have gone to a silk dome instead. CS says they will be close enough to not make a difference, but technically they are different tweeters. Again, if you can't tell a difference, then enjoy them.
If you start to notice a difference, you can always replace the new tweeter with a matching one, or look for a beat up set of RT25i's, or RT35i's to do an exchange. The tweets often come up on ebay as well.
Most of all, enjoy.Tschüss

I believe he was asking for opinions on the RD6515 replacement tweeters from those members who have used or are using them.
(He won't quite get that feedback by calling Polk CS.) -

Since it was to be from the horses mouth, I'd venture a guess and.......... say Mr. Ed??"SOME PEOPLE CALL ME MAURICE,

anyway, throw those silks in a tell us how they sound, I havent heard anyone replace those tri lam tweets, wonder if they are an improvement over the tri lam almost to the extent the silk replacement is over the sl2000
I allways seem to prefer silk dome tweets over tri lams or metalLiving Room 2 Channel -

Polk actually carries alot of replacement parts, just not the tri lams. Polk actually has very good customer support.
I'm sure Klipsch appreciates your new appreciationLiving Room 2 Channel -

So if you blow a tri-lam you replace with a different tweeter? Two different tweeters in a stereo pair? It if works for you...:D
-
Not even I* can ignore this thread...
The Tri-Lam replacement is the SILK/Polymer tweeter from the RTi70 line. I dont particularly like that tweeter. I find it lacks alot of detail in the upper end.
So to me there is a definite difference.
My advice is to pick up a pair of RT35i or something and use them for parts. You get mids and tweets - you can sell the cabs and xovers on EBay...
The RT25i will not work - they didnt use a baffle, but screws to mount to the cabinet. Only speakers with a baffle will work with the speaker.
Keep the tri-lams in the chain, don't use the Silk replacements Polk is giving out. Sad they don't make them anymore.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
I agree that it is a bummer that the trilams for the RTxxxi's are no longer available. According to CS, the older trilams in the LS series are available, but that's no help to those wanting a replacement trilam for speakers with the raised baffles.
Also according to CS, the trilams are no longer available because the company that did the vapor coating is no longer available.5.1 and 2.0 ch Basement Media Room: Outlaw 975/Emotiva DC-1/Rotel RB-1582 MKII/Rotel RB-1552/Audiosource Amp 3/Polk LS90, CS400i, FX500i/Outlaw X-12, LFM-1/JVD DLA-HD250/Da-Lite 100" HCCV/Sony ES BDP/Sonos Connect. it sounded same to me since i replace both left and right tweeter, i was playin techno/ bass musics from bass mekanik, sounded same to me, i love the bass on my rt2000p lol
-
if it sounds good to you, thats all that matters. watch the volume, more importantly, watch for distortion. I know techno is only fun when it is loud , but if your tweets distort, thats whats gonna blow them, especially if your slightly underpowerred. I have no idea what the specs are on your reciever.Living Room 2 Channel -

i got a denon AVR4800 receiver, brought it wen it first came out 1999.99, the sub part of rt2000p are hooked up to the sub preout on the receiver, the speaker are set to small and its hooked up with 12 guage monster cable, i already set the subwoofer level limit, its at -18 with my subs at 2 o clock positioned, i might set a lil lower to like -20 or -22 or -24.
