Circuit City has some new Polk speakers listed.

M10 M20 CSM

Circuit City refers to these as M line speakers. Are they Monitors? Or do these replace the R series speakers? PolkAudio doesn't have them listed. Does anyone know anything about them?

Hmmm......I do want to upgrade my master bedroom system from a Sony HT in a box to something better. I wouldn't mind a 5.1 polk set-up for that type of money. Not bad. I will venture over to the new CC this weekend and get a quick demo of those jokers.
    Main Set-up: 55" 120 hz Samsung LN55B650, Onkyo TX-SR806, Emotiva XPA-5, Emotiva XPA-2, PS3 Slim, Sony BDP-S560, Apple TV (160g), Panamax M5300-PM, Polk Audio CSi5, RTi10's, FXi3's, RTi4's, and SVS PB12 Plus

Could I run a set of R50s, R15s, PSW10, with that new CSM center? If so, I could probably power it with a Sony or Panasonic. What reciever did you use?

I'm sure you could. The new series had almost the same specs as the Rseries and probably the same tweeters (as a csi20 center).

I wonder if there is a speaker in that family that is the twin of the R50? I would rather have two drivers for my towers.

They look exactly like Rs 15 & 30 and the CSi25. I would assume there is an M30 = R50. Unless you want the silver finish, I'd think you would do better waiting for the Frys/Outback sales and get ready for another price drop :D .

Yell at me if you see a set of R50s in the flea market. I can still get the R15s at CC.

I have never auditioned the Monitor series speakers, but I think they would do better than the R series speakers which I have heard. There is a pretty big difference in price right?

I used a Onkyo off of U-bid, one of those refurb jobs, had about 80W per channel if I remember right, anyway, it did the trick for him, was a 7.1, I think it was the 601 model number. I used a cheaper panny for my daughter and she likes the thing, got it at CC for 299.00, its decent but no great shakes.

I have heard them, they're more forward and bright to my ears and are rarely discounted. I wouldn't move up to the monitors, might to the RTis.

I love my RTis in the main HT room. I wouldn't mind going with four RTi4s, CSi3, and a sub.

that would be a solid setup. I know some people on here say that rti's tend to sound bright (not as bad as R and Monitor, though) but that's not always the case. You'd be surprised how easy it is to tame an rti tweeter just by carefully matching components to it. Each brand name (preamp or amplifier)has a different sound to it, believe it or not. I can turn up the volume on mine- even in 2ch. and not get listener fatigue, and this is coming from a guy who not only hates bright sounding gear- but isn't even too crazy over neutral-sounding gear.

Agree about matching components, but to my ears the Rtis are much brighter than the Rs. The CSi3 is the brightest speaker in my room, great for dialog. The Rs sound more laid back. There's no doubt in my mind the Rtis are a better speaker, but both the monitors and Rtis are brighter (in my room :) ).

Ron I pretty much have the same setup as you and I agree 100% that the Csi3 is slightly brighter than my R's. Also for some reason when I got the HK235, the center's brightness seemed more pronounced, but the R's sounded the same. The are all great speakers though and they all do a great job.

For calibration, I actually have the front R30's set at +2 on and the Csi3 at +1.

100% agreement...The HK really widened and boosted the center channel. I used EZSetup and calibrated and both set my center -1 from the mains and sometimes it still sounds a bit hot. But I hear every word :D

I heard an all RTi setup in a decent room and they didn't sound bright just detailed. Maybe doing an A/B in that room the Rs would have sounded bright and tinny. Just not in mine.

    Thanks.

Outpost has R-15's on sale again. Why buy the M10 at CC if you can get these (R15's) much cheaper?
