upgrade speakers
Hi,
I have RM6700 all in one system with me. I recently upgraded to a new 7.1 pioneer receiver. So I decided to add two new speakers in the front. My new room size is really big. Length is 24" and width is 12". I am thinking of the Montor 40's or the Rti4 but not sure if they match with the existing speakers.
Can anyone suggest me any other models. My budget is between 300 to 400 dollars.
Thank You

Welcome to CP!
Both of those will blend nicely with your 6700 satellites. I made this move when I first got into surround sound a few years back and you should notice the improvement in how the speaker gives a fuller sound. The downside to upgrading the front stereo pair is that your center speaker is now going to be weaker and this speaker handles 80% of the information in movies.
How are you setting up the 24' length of your room? This is alot of space to fill with small speakers. Some have success with more powerful subwoofers to get the bass pressure high enough to match the rooms needs.

Welcome to the forum.
Are you in a position to upgrade your center channel as well? Neither speaker you mentioned will give a true matched timbre(although they will sound close like Dennis suggests). If you are willing to get a new center as well, I would suggest getting the RTi4's and a CSi3. If you find the right place to buy them, they will be right around the $400 mark.
There will probably be other suggestions as well. I will tell you up front that it is ultimately your decision and if you can go listen to them yourself, that would be your best bet. Depending on your location, this may be easier said than done.
Hope this helps.
Have a good one.

Thank you Zach and Dennis for your information. I will try to increase my budget to add a new center channel. I forgot to mention earlier that I also have a 100 watt psw303 sub with me. I am assuming that this should be sufficient for my big room. I haven't moved into my new home as yet so not sure how they sound. Also I saw these new speakers-RM6901/RM201 on the polk website. Do you have any idea how good these sound? I am assuming these give a true matched timbre to my existing satellites.

If you really like your HT, (and many do) then go for the RT series, RT means Reference Theater, if you need to get the speaks one pair at a time, its fun buliding a system this way, lots of times you can find nice speaks in our Flea Market for a great price, take your time, but if you like HT I suspect you will want to upgrade from the R-series eventually, just like you are doing with the new receiver and added speaks.
Have fun.

One other thing, you will likely want a bigger sub at some point, the 303 is a bit short on power for your room.

True. I have the PSW505, and my room is 24x13, and the 505 barely fits the bill. You may want to upgrade in the near future. I also agree with Zach for your start up system. Maybe on down the line you can replace the sats with a set of towers and 4 bookshelf speakers. For now, the CSi3 and a set of RTi4s should tide you over.

Hey landry,
Are you planning to upgrade your PSW505? If so what are you thinking to replace your sub with? My room is 18x12 and I have the same subwoofer.

Yep. I see an SVS PB12-ISD in the near future. If the moulah is right I may even get the PB12-ISD/V. I heard that either of those two are Beasts. Going from 28hz to a possible 16hz is a heck of an improvement. You should go to svsubwoofers.com to check out the All-Star
line-up. For only $600-$700 bucks, you too can blow the glass out of your home!

I agree..I have a 20-39pci for my 12x28 room..which is about the same size as yours and the sub has its limits on pressurizing a room that size. So I going to buy an SVS PB12-ISD/2. That way I will definately have enough room for overhead and will get the desired bass response in a room that size.
Plus its nice to be able to tune it to my needs also. -
You damn skippy you will. I hope to be able to make the jump soon. I am torn between a new TV, sub, and center. If I go with the TV, that will be all I will do. If I go the other route an SVS and a CSi5 will come into play. My pockets are not deep enough to do all three upgrades. :eek:Main Set-up: 55" 120 hz Samsung LN55B650, Onkyo TX-SR806, Emotiva XPA-5, Emotiva XPA-2, PS3 Slim, Sony BDP-S560, Apple TV (160g), Panamax M5300-PM, Polk Audio CSi5, RTi10's, FXi3's, RTi4's, and SVS PB12 Plus
