Getting ready to pull the trigger on a cdp...Have found a new Music Hall 25.2 for $475.00 delivered...

Have come across a used/like new Rotel RCD 1072 for about $450.00 delivered...

The M.H. 25.2 seems to have the edge in the interior, but the reviews of the Rotel shows it's also a decent player...

Any imput would be appreciated,thanks.

I know Rotel is a well respected name...I'm also thinking about an RCD 991AE player...labeled as "Rotel Best" cpd.

I also a Parasound HCA 1500A powering my SDA's,the Rotel 1072 must mate well with the Parasound?

I recently replaced my Denon DCM-370 with a Rotel RCC-1055 changer - very happy with purchase. The RC-1072 is one of the best players for the money today.

I have the same amp powering my RTA 8T's They mate very well together. The 1072 reads HDCD as well. I upgraded from my 15 yr old Rotel RCD 855 which is still in perfect working order.

Except for a slight increase in clarity, I can't really tell a difference between the 2 players.

    That's a coin-toss, both are fine players.

Steve,I believe you're right...The Rotel 1072 I had my eye on is sold, that's what I get for draggin my feet...The Music Hall looks very appealing for the money...It looks like the cdp that Onix and Shanling are maketing is the same as the Music Hall CD 25...

Might be better off to pick up the Onix for $300.00 and maybe do a few mods to it?

My personal belief is that the Music Hall is of better quality than either the Shanling or Onix (especially the Onix). I'm not knocking these 2, just giving my opinion on where my money would go between the 3. The new 25.2 incorporates some neat upgrades and would make an outstanding transport if you decide to go external DAC later.

I tell ya,There are SOOOOOOOOOO many good players out there,it was tough for me to make the call...

I'm sure the Rotel will satisfy my "needs" for quite a while...It came down to appearance and build quality...hopefully the 1072 will perform as good as it looks...

Hey, if you tire of the Rotel you could always go outboard DAC and use the 1072 as your transport...win/win situation.
