I am thinking about a new TV, and I was wondering if anyone knows about the 57F710S Hitachi 16x9 widescreen HDTV. Any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Landry

I was also thinking about DLP or LCD. This is not in concrete, just a possibility.

If you plan on gaming at all, you had better get a DLP or LCD. Standard RPTVs and Plasmas aren't to be gamed on. If not, Hitachi makes nice TVs.

hitachi be good. i play xbox on it all the time. if the screen ever goes bad, i hope i can swindle a deal with my extended warranty. i know it is not supposed to cover screen burn in from gaming, but i'm pretty good at getting what i want. i'd rather have dlp, though...................

You can't burn in a DLP TV can you? I know you can't burn in an LCD TV. If I get a new projection TV, I will use the old 51" Panasonic for my gaming rig. If I get LCD I will keep it the same. So far, after all the years of playing video games on the Panny, I have never burned in the screen. I won't risk it on a new TV though.

i'd say to just keep alternating games frequently and never ever worry about it. i don't. it's a warning that manufacturers must state for liability and warranty purposes. screen burn-in is very real, but i don't worry i'll ever encounter a problem with it.

Just realize that is an older model but is still very good. In big screen country, CRT's are still the best. I wouldn't worry about gaming on a CRT unless you're addicted to a single game with static images and play it for many hours every day for weeks/months. Hitachi or Mitsubishi are the only two to get. Period.

this is true. Much like Bose being the best selling audio company. Coincidence???

The F series is their lowest model, I don't recommend it. Hitachi makes great CRT RPTV's, I own two, but I would never buy the F series. Try to go somewhere where you check out the Hitachi models that are a little higher up the food chain, wait for a good sale, then spring into action.

I also thought about going back with another Panasonic TV. I have had a pretty good run with ny current TV, but I want to replace it because it is a 4:3 aspect ratio screen. I want the 16:9 screen for the movies. I may just keep the current tv for a gaming rig in another part of the house so I won't have burn in to worry about. Thanks for the replies fellas.

I'm a huge Panny fan. Everything I own that is Panny runs perfect. I have 2 tvs and I love them both (have already gone through a JVC and Sony. they just don't seem to match up). The air conditioner is the best one out of the 7 in the house. Runs quite and always cold. I've had my RPTV for over 5 years, game on it all the time, and have yet to have a problem. I perfer the picture over my cusins brand new DLP and brother-in-laws new RP.

Although I do still own a 20" Hatachi that has a beautiful picture. I bought it in 1985 for $450 (major bucks back then) but have yet to see another Hatachi that matched up. I will soon dedicate this beautiful classic as my NES and Nintendo 64 display.

I just recently got rid of an 11 year old Panasonic cordless phone that still had excellent reception. The battery pack went bad and was no longer available. I liked that phone. My Panny TV and two Panny dvd players function flawlesly. I may take that route again, but I do like the Hitachi TVs.
