This article appears in the current issue of Audio Express. Note that it was written by the Product Marketing Manager of Texas Instruments, which manufactures these "chip amps" under the PurePath Digital brand and they're used in receivers from Panasonic and Kenwood, amongst others.

Wouldnt that be interesting if they could perfect it in the near future to compete with the all mighty powerfull top dogs like Mark Levinson Halcro Krell and several others? The advancement of technology in audio.......maybe it will happen.

Bang & Olufsen is now behind the ICEpower amplifier modules used by Rotel, PS Audio, Jeff Rowland, and other companies are adopting the technology. Things are changing. I wouldn't be surprised if 5 years from now it's unusual to find a new home theater amplifer or any receiver using anything other than digital amplifier technology. The power consumption, power output, low energy use, and cost benefits once mass production kicks in should have a huge impact on the home audio business. Bang & Olufsen makes a module that will put 2400 watts into 2 ohm speaker loads while running no warmer than body temperature.

    Very interesting reading here:
