Any problem with using a C300.2 to drive a pair of MMC6500's? I ask because the tested power of the C300.2 I got is 180 w x 2 rms @ 4 ohms and the MMC6500's are rated at 125 w continous and 250 w max.

Thanks!

No problem with using that amp on those speakers. the more power you have the cleaner the sound is going to be because you can keep the gain down low there for the amp generates less heat and you have less distortion. The only problem i see is you really need a 4 channel amp for components. That way you can run the tweeters and the midbass on different channels which allows more tweeting for better sound quality.

More power = better SQ to a point. Too much power will kill a speaker regardless if its distorted or as clean and pure as the wind driven snow. The 300.2 will work fine but take care when setting the gains.

My Crossfire makes more power than my SR's can handle so Ive got my gains on the floor. Both are virtually set to zero. As long as your gains are set low enough that the amp doesnt push the speakers to far youll be fine.

cam - what precisely did you mean by 'more tweeting for better sound quality'?

and to set your gains - http://www.andrew.cmu.edu/user/dhuston/gains.html

    I think he meant "tweaking".

..or maybe more power for the tweeters, so they arent sharing a channel with the mids :p

Thanks for the replies! Trouble is I do have C400 but it is already tied up. Would be cool to drive the components with it though :)

LOL yeah i meant tweaking! I not much on 2 channel amps for running components. 4 channel amps have better crossovers and some have better bass boost settings also.
