How many of you are jealous that I get to watch every Pens game this year. I know they're 0-2 but Crosby and Palffy are going crazy out there. Oh yeah there's also a guy named Lemieux. A top notch goalie would really do the trick but even the guys we have may be enough. :D I love the new rules, saw my first shootout tonight :p

I'm jealous only because I don't have a pro team in town. :( I went to the preseason game a few weeks ago with the Blues and the Predators... awesome game. God KC needs a team!!!!

Watched Crosby play junior (LIVE) when I lived in Halifax. Are you watching every game LIVE or on TV?

I will at least be watching all on TV, but hopefully I can get some tickets to go to a few games.

I have access to tickets for all Edmonton home games, but getting there is a problem. Fly down to Edmonton, stay in a hotel, eat food for my son and I and it's a $2K weekend. The tickets are on $50 each.

I love the changes to the NHL, except one. Peter Forsberg not in an Avalanche uniform. That is criminal.

The players gave and gave and gave some more...

I've been enjoying the season so far. I haven't got to sit and watch a whole lot, but I've been watching some while I work. Blues are up 5-3 at the 2nd break.

I went to a Blackhawks game a few weeks ago for free and had a great time. It was my first NHL game. It was a preseason game vs. Columbus. I had a free ticket to last nights game as well, but couldn't make it. My company has 4 season tickets that I get access to every now and then, so I will probably make 5 or 6 more games.

Well surprisingly the fan base has not dropped that i can see, it looks like packed houses to me. We are going to hit a few Coyotes games this season. Glendale arena is a great place to watch a game...not a bad seat in the house.

The Avs look real solid this year. Not like in years past, but for people to be writing them off is unfair. Sure they lost Peter the Great, and Foote...but the core guys are still there...Blake, sakic, Tanguay, Hejduk, Konowalchuk, and Hinote. But what i like is that we have some charechter guys, guys that you would have never seen in a Avs uniform before like Brunette (and Avs killer when with the Wild), and Brad May (who may infact make the Avs fans forget about the Moore incident)

I also really like the young guys in Wolski, Svatos, and on Defense Sauer, Liles, and Vaananen.

Turgeon looks real solid so far, and I have laways been a Ian Laperierre fan...the guy is a great grinder.

I think that we have been written off by the nay-sayers because people are sick of the Avs in it every season, So when we lost a few great players we were considered weak,BUT ohhh how they forget that almost every year over the past 5 years the Avs were always playing without Peter, and Foote was hurt during that time frame too. So I see this as no different than any other season...no Peter, thats fine we still have the core group to get through it.

Keep your eyes on the Ottawa team. It's a tall order to surpass Gretzky, unlike Lemieux & Lindros.

Go Svatos Go, give Sid the Kid and Ovechin a run for ROY...

Too bad Lehtonen got hurt. He was the best bet for ROY before the season started.

    Svatos: 4G 1A in 2 GP

Gotcha, knew you were from the Dallas area and were hitting the crack pipe thinking Juri was a rook... Ward for Carolina looks like a good upcoming goalie and Budaj didn't do terribly in his first start.

Jere? His lastname is Lehtinen, Kari is Lehtonen. Lehti = leaf, lehto = deciduous forest. :)

I've hang out with Jere a few times, a very nice, quiet guy. Haven't met Kari but I have seen him play numerous times. I know it's a bold statement but I think this kid is better than Luongo. I knew Luongo was going to be great when I saw him in the juniors, and I immediately thought Kari was even better.

Hard to tell with keepers since it is such a mentaly demanding position. SImilar to pitchers in BB or QB's in FB. You can have all the skill and flash in the world but unless you can get/keep your head in it, ability counts for nothing.

I hope Loungo gets a better team in front of him sometime.

The only thing to worry about him is his groins. I agree past performance in Europe and minors is not a quarantee but it's hard to tell from the skaters as well. Crosby can be a bust as well, just like Lindros in many ways was.

Skaters are a bit easier since you can wean them in a game. Goalies are an all orr nothing endeavor. If a skater is struggling, you can move them up with more experienced guys and if that doesn't work, move them down and let them play in unimportant times. But yes, it is a craps shoot regardless and draft gurus need to stop with the "player X is the next player Y" That's never fair.

I don't think Lindros was a bust. He was the most dominant player in hockey for several years. Granted, injuries took their toll but from about 94-98, there wasn't a better player to carry a team when healthy (exc. Roy and Hasek). Too many people were expecting too much of him. He's only probably the best "power" forward to ever play the game. Because of that style of play, he got the crap beat out of him and fell off the peak. Those who thought he'd be the next Lemeiux were idiots. I have a hard time saying someones a bust because of injuries.

Lindros was overhyped, that's part of my loose bust tag. He was good, what he gave up on skill to the other guys he made up with his physical play. He was big enough to play that kind of game but in the end he wasn't robust enough to really play that game. His bread and butter was his demise as well. His fragile head is a reason why no ticket to HOF for him.

I'm feeling the same type of hype on Crosby as well when you have better (?) prospects around the league. Could it be his country of origin vs. the other guys coming from Eastern Europe? The media here has always had a bias and it might be a bit of a burden on Crosby to live up to the expectations.

As far as Lehtonen, he has already shown a lot. Both in juniors and seniors. His mentals are great, his skills are great. Now if he can just stay healthy he'll be a great goalie. Atlanta is going to be patient with him and let him heal so that's not a problem. They have great forwards but the defense in front of Lehtonen could be a lot better.
