After a few months of deciding I purchased Spyder TV. I’m pleased to say the purchased was a good one. Video calibration is necessary & having an accurate display is something I feel is very important. The program comes with a program cd which is loaded on to a computer, a DVD for test patterns, & a Colorimeter. I have & do use Video essential, DVE, Avia & Avia pro to calibrate customers displays as well as my displays. Using the Sypder tv on my system Mits 55819 55” rear prog tv I found that my settings were close but Spyder TV did correct contrast & brightness slightly which did have a small but noticeable improvement. The program will measure & tell the user exactly how to adjust the display & total time is about 30-40 min per display. It will adjust Color temp preset, brightness, contrast, color, and tint. The only other adjustment which is needed is sharpness therer is a sharpness pattern in Spyder TV DVD but the sharpness patterns on DVE or Avia Pro is more detailed. I so far have used this on direct view crt, rear prog crt, rear prog lcd, & plasma all with great results. Yes can do all the calibration with DVE, or other calibration discs & should get the same results, but with Spyder TV you should get great results over & over being very consistent. With this system almost any one can now calibrate their display. It is not an ISF calibration but it is as close to one that the end user can do by himself or herself. The only reading & adjustment it dose not to is grayscale, but it will help you select your color temp preset to the closest to 6500k. If looking for an easy way to do calibrations & you don’t want to spend lots of money on test equipment look at Spyder TV.
