Somebody at my work is moving and selling his Krell KAV 300i for about $1000 or may be lesser.
Do you think its a good deal? What should be the cost? Its 3 years old and packaged in a box since 3 years.
I'm mainly looking to run this with my LSi15.
Currently I have Outlaw 770 driving my 5.1 system.
I'm happy with outlaw but do you think upgrading to Krell is worth the price?

That is the brushed gray finish....nice.
.....according to audiogon it is 150 wattsx2 made in 1998 and sold new for $2350.00 and may now go for $1200.00.
I sure would like to give something like that a whirl.Denon #2900, Denon stereo receiver, Conrad Johnson Sonographe 120 amp, Blue Jeans cables, and Klipsch RF-7's -
He also has Cary Audio 280SA V-12R tube amp for sale around $1500
Here is the link to the amp.

I know tube will outclass my outlaw but what would you choose? Ofcourse I have limited resources. Price is a major factor in deciding it.
So what's a good deal Krell or Cary Audio.

WOW, a Cary "V12"...
V12i 2001 new $4000.00 used $2130.00
V12R 2004 new $8500 used $6110.00
I think the "R" stands for remote and if it were me with my speakers I would choose that tube amp if it were in good condition. I have a 2 channel setup and it would be fun to try something other than solid state.Denon #2900, Denon stereo receiver, Conrad Johnson Sonographe 120 amp, Blue Jeans cables, and Klipsch RF-7's -
Can't give my opinion on the Cary since I don't own one, but I know that Krell is very capable of driving Lsi15. I have its newer version, 400Xi, 200 watts/ch. at 4 ohms. $1K is very good price, since it's been sitting in a box for 3 years. Personally, I am going with tube pre and ss power combo way. I can operate the Krell integrated as a power amp, but don't know if that feature exist on the 300i.I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

The 300 integrated was not one of Krell's best efforts, the 400 is. Of the two choices, I'd grab the Cary amp.
BTW, if it doesn't sell on AG or you don't want it or Zero doesn't, let me know.Political Correctness'.........defined

Well to update you guys.
My colleague left both the amps at my disposal. He said I could try the Cary amp for few months and decide later if I want to buy or not.
I'm sooooooooo... overwhelmed by it.
Now I have both Krell and Cary at my home.
I'm a total newbie in tubes. Now I have to put some serious hours listening to it.
I'm not very enthusiastic about Krell since I already own a SS 7 ch amp.
Somebody please guide me how to best make use of Cary amp...
Few questions.
1. One of Tube FUSE is blown. It says Tube Fuse 1/2 A/FB at the back of the amp. And Fuse says 1/2A 250V 312.
Where do I buy these fuse?
2.The AMP has 2 mode Triode and Ultra Linear. Which is best?
3. Is it necessary to set the bias on the amp.
4. I need to buy a power cord of this amp. My friend accidentally packed the original power cord while moving.

1. The fuse is a 1/2 amp fast blow. Any good electronics store should carry them and I know Cary does.
2. Flip the switch and decide for yourself.
3. YES!!!
4. Just send me the amp and I'll send your friend the $1500.00. Seriously.Political Correctness'.........defined

Well I have never laided my hands on tube gear and I have few months to try it.
I'll play around for few months & let you guys know if its up for sale. The price will be decided by my friend. I'm not getting a cent out of it except I get to play around with it.
The Krell KAV 300i is up for sale. There were some people interested so let me know.
here is the link to Krell's audiogon listing.
