I have just finished watching the first season of lost on DVD (i did not watch it when the season was on tv) and all i can say is wow!!! It really got my attention and would not let go, i watched the entire 6 disc set in about 2 days becasue i could not stop. The only sad thing is that now that i am caught up to the current season i have to wait a whole week everytime i want to see more.

Does anyone else watch lost here and have any thoughts about it.

I just did the same thing! Amazing show!

I agree, after seeing the first year in just a couple of days, I'm going through Lost withdrawal....until tonight!

I've been watching the season two episodes so far. The viewing experience is vastly different between watching multiple episodes from the DVDs and watching the episodes as they're on TV though. Eighteen minutes of commercials an hour really sucks and drags the enjoyment down.

    Great show though.

HAHA I know 9:00 cant come soon enough...

I had tivo'd the first two episodes of this season becasue i had not started to watch the dvd yet and i have to say it was really weird after i had watched the dvd and then watched the two from this season off my tivo... what hell are these commercials doing in here, what is up with having to wait untill next week to see more, i am not used to that.

If i was the real patient type i would wait until season 2 comes out on dvd.. but i dont see myself doing that :D

Hey, I just got lost season 1 for my birthday (I have never seen the show). I am hooked on alias as well.

Anyone else like watching these shows much more on DVD with no commercials rather than on regular TV (no widescreen, no surround sound, commercials)? The shows are well enough done I don't mind paying for them and watching them in their best format when I have time to... :)

I just finished watching the second episode last night. I agree, the comercials get in the way ;)...but I really fast forwarding through them. I might keep myself busy until the show is over so I have that option again...if I can wait.

I haven't been this excited about a T.V. show ever...I am engrossed in the story. 24 was/is good...but it didn't hook me like Lost has...I've never felt the 'need' for more...help me I'm addicted ;).

Great show. I've been a fan since the Pilot last year and haven't missed a single episode. It also looks spectacular in HD. Sitting through commercials does suck though. I usually try to time shift it with my HDTivo so that I can skip through them, but my wife usually doesn't have the patience to wait until 9:20 to start watching.
For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...

I can't imagine watching a full season in 2 days. Aren't you exhausted? Lost and 24 both have my vote for the most intense stress factors of any recent shows. I get rung out just sitting through each week Tivoed.

It was exhausting...I started last Wednesday and finished last Sunday...but I loved every minute of it.

I really kept thinking that I wish this was a book...they're doing a great job with character development...but I want more ;).

I got hooked on the 1st series of Lost, but missed the last 4 episodes. I've yet to get the DVD to watchthem over. Also haven't caught any of the new series, but I think I'm going to wait a while so that I have some episodes to get through before having to wait a week between each one.

    Ok...here's my (somewhat educated) guess:

While watching the 'orientation' film, we were given a clue. The research facilities were to be used based on the theories of BF Skinner. Skinner's theory in simple terms has to do with stimulus and response. You do something good, you get rewarded, you do something bad, you get punished. I believe that Jack is right....nothing will happen if they do not put in the numbers. But through Skinner's theory, humans have been turned into lab rats...you put in the numbers and hit execute, you get to live for another 108 minutes...you do not and the destruction of the world is in your hands. Stimulus and response....

I also have another 'Theory'...but I don't feel as strongly as I do about the first one. The 'Swan' lab is supposed to be a research facility on magitism. What could rip a plane 1000 miles off course? One big **** magnet!

Who knows? I just know I'm enjoying this show.

I have to agree with your first theory jet, that is the same thing that i was thinking last night when i was watching it.

But what i want to know is how like everything is tied together, like especially where did those numbers come from? do the different stations around the world all have a different a number printed on their hatch and that is what they have to type? are there even any other stations out there? What more specifically is the origin of this project and what really are they trying to do and what do the people living in the station think is going on? What happened to the so called replacements that were suposed to come and replace the guy that showed desmond what to do? what that guy the first one in that substation or had he been the replacements for others?

Wow i just realized how much rambling i was doing, i guess i realy want to know alot :)

Well any way i was also curios if anyone else had caught that on the shark that was circling michael and sawyer when they were floating in water, that on it's fin was imprinted the same emblem that is on desmon'ds jump suite and is printed on several fuse boxes with-in the hatch?

I haven't missed one yet. I love the show. Last night they finially answered a question or two (the first 2 shows they didn't answer a thing, just brought up more questions). It was starting to get a little to cliff hangy for me (the entire show is like one long cliff hanger). Hopefully they will answer more (and come up with more) questions a little more quickly. I'll definetly watch every episode for the rest of the season, but may lose interest for the 3rd season if they spend the rest of this season adding more questions and answering none. (we finialy got a glimpse of where that polar bear came from that they killed in the 2nd show of the 1st season).

I'm also a huge fan of 24. The bring up tons of questions every show, but also answer a bunch during each (keeps you a little more satified than lost).

I didn't notice the shark thing. Another thing I read at the end of last season (which was WAY to much of a cliff hanger), is that the "pirates" that took the boy were all twins (tiplets, whatever). I looked for it when this season started, but couldn't tell.

(also, HD is the only way to watch this show [and 24]).

Yeah, Brent...I've got no answers. But your points is why this is so appealing to me...everything is tied together. The dichotomy between fate and free will in this storyline is mindboggling...I love it! Is it Wednesday yet?

    4+8+15+16+23+42=108

As far as I can tell there isn't any other math in the sequence- 23 is the only prime, and it doesn't follow any of the usual sequences/ distributions that I know about. I also looked into them as lat/long degrees minutes seconds- nothing there either (any combination will put you in the wrong hemisphere)

In the orietation film, they list off all the fields of study conducted on the island- I think as zoology was listed they showed some polar bears.

Goofing off at work and researching crap that might help me make sense of the show...I found a quote from John Locke...the real John Locke:

    John Locke (1632-1704):
    "The Philosopher of Freedom."
"Good and evil, reward and punishment, are the only motives to a rational creature: these are the spur and reins whereby all mankind are set on work, and guided." (Locke.)

It really makes sense with what is happening...it's almost wednesday!

Scott- if you didn't see the first series, then you have NO IDEA what's going on :). This is a story-based show... you have to watch it from the beginning.

Oh, and I finally got around to watching the last 4 eps of the 1st series, now I just have to find eps 1 and 3 of this series and I can start watching them, too :)

It's not unusual for people to have watched every episode and still not know what's going on. :D

But, you should watch the first season before getting into the second season further. It's even useful to watch the first season more than once because so many episodes make references to prior events on and off the island with characters crossing paths before in some cases. There are so many things tossed into the show over time, it's hard to keep track of them. Things happening in season two so far in terms of flashbacks tie in closely with things that happened throughout the episodes of season one.

Flashbacks, (that is it), after I watched the show for the first time, I thought they were on some parallel universe or something and both were shot in "present" time. Like I said, I knew nothing about this show at all. I am going to have to pick up the other season(s)....

So who do you guys think are these 'others'....lets have some theories floating.

I believe it is an ancient cannibal tribe - hiding on the other side of the island near the crash sight of the second group of the survivors.
