Hey guys, I recently sold my 240sx & bought a 2001 galant(uncle gave it to me for a price I couldnt pass up). Ive transfered all of my stereo stuff to the new car & the sub just sucks compared to what I was used to. I have a Eclipse 8112 running off a PPI 500rms amp. In the 240 I would get a nice tight kick when a kickdrum hit but dont have that now. I had sound deadining all in the old car & havent put it in the new one yet, so im not sure if thats the reason. Also I had the rear seat always folded down in the nissan & the galant only has a ski hole(half the seat). All my crossover settings on the amp & head unit are the same, I actually have had to boost the sub by +2 on the subout on my HU. So am I going to have to get another or upgrade to a better sub to get that old kick agian?

There are a lot of different factors that will affect the SQ in different cars. My first thought would be the size. If the interior of you old car is a lot smaller than the new one, that would explain the decreased bass response and a Galant is a little bigger than a 240, especially in the trunk area.

So yeah, youre likely going to have to move up to either a bigger sub and/or bigger amp.

i'd spend some time retuning first, playing with the eq, xover points, etc. before making any equipment changes (read: spending any money)...

Thats an excellent piont. Im kind of stupid when it comes to buying new gear when I dont need it.

Needless to say, Im broke a lot.
