Just saw a trailer for DOOM the movie. Looks like the Rock is the star. Does anyone know anything about this?

It will be awesome from what I saw in the trailers.Expert Moron Extraordinaire

Looks like it'll make for one hell-of-a dvd for the home theater. A blind buy most likely, doubt I'll trek to the theater for it.If...
Ron dislikes a film = go out and buy it.
Ron loves a film = don't even rent. -
I would rather see Half Life 2 the movie.

Man, that would be badass. At least it has a somewhat interesting story. Having played DooM for years in all it's different forms, I can say there never was much of a story. ID tried to make one, but it's tired as hell.
Half Life 2 could be an amazing cinematic experience.
I've got no interest in seeing this movie other than for the sound potential. Then again, Resident Evil surprised the hell out of me. -
I have some LOW* expectations for this movie to be honest with you.
The game didnt even do much for me... After about 6 levels without any...barely any story line developing...I kind of got to the point of wondering... "WHY AM I HERE"??
All you know is demons were taking over...you needed to get somewhere...and kill anything that got in your way on the way there...
Thats about the story...atleast to where I stopped (6 or 7th level)...
I think Halo would make a killer movie!
Never played HL2- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
That because thats what Doom is all about. Its not about plots, story lines, drama, puzzles or anything like that. Its about one thing; killing demons.
When it first came out in the 90's (I caught on in 95 with the PS1 version) it was all about lots of health, lots of guns and lots of monsters to kill, all in a eerie environment. Thats what made it great and why I think the PS1 version of Doom and Final Doom are the greates games ever (technology not withstanding).
Doom3 was what all the others were, eerie levels and lots of killing.
I hope this movie is good. I know the track record for movies made from games is pretty weak with Mortal Kombat probably being the best, but Im holding out hope and will be there to see it opening weekend.polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

To me, I like that aspect - but it takes alot to keep me interested over time. Just blowing things up is not going to keep me interested sadly... I need some type of goal...story...- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

The goal is to blow up all the stuff!
Im kind of a Neanderthal in my thinking so I guess a mindless game of senseless violence is right up my alley! No need to get bogged down with moral and a storyline and all.polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

The only game that successfully pulled off that "blow them all up" theory was the computer version of serious sam.
They lock you in a room... and literally for over a hour send skellatons, suicide runners, bulls, aliens, scorpians - etc - just charging at you in an open field. They supply you with like TONS of ammo, rockets - gatlen - and constantly reload you.... that is the best level I have ever played in a game...
the XBox version is pretty ****.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -

My friend has it...
You have probally played the level I am talking about - you go in this field that has a sidewalk down the center and 2 towers on each end of the field where scoprions, etc come up and aliens come over the fence...
Ok take the hardest setting XBox gives you - then double that and thats what the computer level is like. Just freakin insane. Great level.
The levels after/before that are pretty cool - where you have to go around the pool... that is much better on the computer too.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
Yes but its not just about killing endless demons. You have to have the atmosphere and ambience there as well.
Doom had very eerie music that made it creepy as you crept along the coridors and the cool scenery as you were in hell. Dont forget all the dismsmbered bodies hanging all around. So as much as I like mindless violence, you put it in a creepy setting along with great music and youve got Doom!polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

Mac...
If your ever in NC - you need to stop by and play Doom 3 here.
I got up shaking...just shaking for hours after I first got it. Doom at reference level is scary... the bass is just phenominal... Atleast centered around 30hz, some dipping below that. Great stuff...
Still didnt like it that much.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
