hey guys ive been reading a lot of this forum for over a year now and have learned a lot and have also put that knowledge into effect. Neways i recently got a 97 integra the first thing i did was strip the interior and put 1 layer of dynamat and 1 layer of ice guard and trust me guys its both the same stuff except dynamat is stickier thier both ashfalt based material. next i put in a new electric blue carpet and toped it off with an all leather rsx interior including dashboard. i have mm6's in the front and a mmc690 in the back and a c400.4 now my only problem is a head unit. i wanted to get a navigation system but i dont think they will sound as good and sound is more important than the navigation which i m gonna use maybe once a year. iam currently using a pioneer premeir dh740 which i got in 2001 and it sounds great but im ready to get a new HU i really like pioneer and would love to get another pioneer but thiers prolly other good stuff out thier so i dont wanna b missing out neways heres what i had in mind Kenwood XXV-01D the 25th anniversery addition, pioneer premeir dh960 and 860 i looked over the features and they look the same,Kenwood Excelon KDC-X889, JVC Arsenal KD-AR5500,Clarion ProAudio DXZ855MP, Panasonic CQ-CB8901U. so as u can c im looking at a lot of decks and thier all about in the same price range here in canada at bout 800-1100 the premeir 960 is the most expensive. neways i know thiers a lot of questions so answer them when u got time
thanx a lot

A navigation unit will sound just as good as one without so dont worry about that, get what you want. Also, Kenwood, Pioneer, Clarion, Eclipse and Alpine are very good quality units and you wont go wrong no matter which one you choose. Pick the one that has the features and appearance you like best and that best meets your budget.

As for the amp cutting off, does it go into protection mode? If so the ground is a likely culprit or you could have the gains too high. It could also be overheating.

Have you decided that you already don't want a Pioneer Navi system? I know they don't do a Premier line in their DVD/Navi players (which I would ultimately want), but I've been looking at the pop out 7" dvd players just because I think the look of the screen would be a cool change......

Anytime I'm needing a navi system, I drag my laptop with me and then I have a 17" navi system in my car......the only reason I'd be wanting the in dash screen is the interface that those offer, as compared to (my biggest complaint) the TINY little buttons that are Pioneer's buttons on their HU's.

You got it bro. Thats also why one with a flat screen will cost more because youre getting more. They arent skimping on the quality internals that give you good SQ, youre still getting them youre just also getting a LCD screen. ;)

Probably better because it uses 24 bit DAC's instead of their regular 1bit DAC's :D . I think their 24bit version is the MDAC which they made with help from Burr Brown.

you know i did not know until recently that texas instruments makes the 24 bit da converters. I knew they made the chips that go in cell phones and the DLP chips that go in the new HD TV'S. But i did not know they also made the burr brown converters. They make just about every chip for electronics except for the chips in computers intel makes those.

that sounds good but thiers a huge difference in terms of preout volume ie the avic n1 and d1 have 2v pre outs and the premiers are 6.5 and since im running the speakers off an amp it wont make ne difference? Mac if u tell me they wont than ill believe u and get the avic n1 :)

about the only nav units you'll get that will still give you phenominal (not mediocre) sound would be the Eclipse units. Look into them, but be ready to drop a few pennies on it. It'd look tough as hell though!

I just read this and started laughing :D .

Just got up from a nice nap, getting ready to go down to the La Mesa Village
Oktoberfest. Nothing like a little laugh to get me going. All I have in my stomach is some cereal, I did this on purpose though. I am now very ready to go eat some hot-off-the-grill German-style bratwurst and drink some good beer :) . I hardly ever drink so I will only have a couple :p . Have a nice weekend Mac :) .
