In other words, "the general consensus from people who havent heard it and dont know how it works".

The pics were taken by someone who's audio opinion I highly trust, who had a demo by the guy who invented the sub and explained to him how it works.

I could see something like that really hurting people if it does actually hork out that kind of output so low. My guess is that since the average person with good hearing can only hear to 20Hz the fact that this produces sound you can't even hear you won't know you are melting your ears until you start to feel pain and at that point you have already done damage.

To me it just looks like a fancy 1/2 hp electric motor with a fireplace fan attached to the front I think I'd enjoy audio more without one of those and having the privilege of being able to control my bowl movements

Well because of this subs output and the Fletcher-Munson curve, you may be able to "hear" quite a bit lower than 20 Hz.

Here is another quote from Thomas, the guy that runs "the Cult":

I hooked up my clothes dryer with some monster extreme to two 500 watt monoblocks, sounds awesome. Selling for 12k, a 1k savings for you guys, just because I'm a nice club member. My next version will totally knock all your walls down, its a wrecking ball version. Still in the lab on that project....

Interesting infinite baffle system. Seems to use ideas obtained from helicopter rotor studies. I wonder if the hotel they set up in knew they'd remove the door between two rooms, build the enclosure for the driver, then run tests down to 1Hz.

You might be able to hit around 10-12Hz in room with the ultra. Just guessing by reading the specs but if it's placed correctly...
