Just in the process of getting reacquainted with my Polks... Haven't had them hooked up for years... Trying to get more bass.... Have put them close to the back wall... few inches away.... Any suggestions ? Is a standalone subwoofer compatible... Using a Carver receiver of the same vintage with my Polks....

    Welcome to the forum.

You can do a few things to get better performance from your CRS+'s. Replace your receiver with separates, something with 200 wpc of high current power will do the trick. Upgrading the crossovers will also help a lot. If you have the original Polk stands, add mass in the form of lead shot and replace the stock spikes.

Another popular upgrade involves replacing the SL2000 with the new silk dome tweeter from Polk, the RD0194-1. This will result in much smoother highs.

Don't listen to that crusty old curmedgeon!

Actually, well, he's about right on.

Which Carver receiver do you have? If it's one of the mid-80's versions, I'd still go separates but it has plenty of power.
