What kind of windows? Have you tried adding some small pieces of weather stripping to tighten up the windows in their tracks?

Bill, where did you place the sub? ratteling windows is a freebie courtesy of SVS. :D

corner placement of the sub is preferred. willl yield the most bass output. proper speaker level calibration is important. but most people run their subs a little hot too. I know you just got your sub.. so it takes some time to tweak it as time goes on.

cheap **** thin, single pane windows. somehow i think i'd have to remove the windows in order to smush some stripping in there. hmmmmmmmm, perhaps some silicone???

definately in the corner. also the corner right next to the worst vibrating/clattering window! there is so much pressure in the room that placement will not stop the rattling. i have yet to calibrate, as i have not had time. but even calibrated levels will yield the same prob with the windows. ah dang.

thought about that too, but came to the conclusion that it would detract from the beauty of the home. but i think it would work. maybe i can cover the duct tape with some lace and lillies or somethin'.........

it's all in aluminum tracts. i'll try wedging various materials in the cracks of the stationary pane. the clatter actually forces me to keep the volume lower than i'd like.

my first thought was on the window itself, but because you will see it...

how about glueing a 1/2" strip of cork around the edge of the window ?
or just the top and bottom..?

stuffing cotton, or small felt strips between the window and widow pane would work if you get it in with a putty knife..

Silicone comes in clear and many colors now days, I dont think it can be painted. We have a large corner cabinet that rattled china and the black foam shelf liner did the trick. What helped the most and prevented the walls and floor from shaking was isolating the sub, that made the biggest difference.

My cylinder is on 3 spikes then on a round concrete slab from home depot, then on top of 10 squash balls hot melt glued to the underside. Looks very nice after spray painting the concrete and squash balls flat black.

I think there is a pic on a photo disc but I'm not sure how to get it here

I have similar windows, I shove tooth picks in between the tracks and window to keep them from moving. If I want to open the window, I just remove the picks and them replace them after.

i have similar problems with rattleing but it is not the windows it is the house that rattles. and what you can try is caucking around the area where the glass hits the fraim and then nailing the windows shut

The windows are being pressurized from the inside of the house. Maybe try caulking the outside frames as you apply slight pressure inward.

just made me think.......i've got aluminum tracks. perhaps tiny sheet metal screws to hold the window tight!! self-tapping screws! we may have a winner! and the color of the galvanized screws would blend semi-closely to the aluminum frame. thanks, ya'll.

this was my very first thought at the time (duct tape) the rattling occured. placing a few strips of duct tape to the glass itself. but after closer examination, the clattering is from the glass' frame vibrating against the frame attached to the wall.

Have Rhino Liner (a truck bed liner company) come in and spray the entire inside of the house, it should soundproof everything. :D;)

the svs's finish on my speaker reminds me of rhino lining. it is actually quite nice looking. if i ever get around to buying a '72 blazer, i'd like to rhino line the entire cab area. seen it done.......very nice.

how often would you like to open them? was there weather stripping in there originally that's worn? if yes, maybe remove and replace. if no, try to add some. home improvement stores should have different types and thicknesses. if you can find it, the furry type would probably be the most durable.

if you don't see anything there that looks like it will hold up to opening and closing, maybe the soft side from a roll of velcro would fit.
