Just wondering what speakers you guys recommend for 6.1/7.1 Surround back rear's.

Will the FXi's do the job or would you recommend a bookshelf speaker.

What speakers do you have for the rest of your system? I ask that question because it made a world of difference for me to be timbre matched and diffused. Makes the sound flow effortlessly.

I went with in-walls for the 6/7 channels.

I would go Dipole/Bipole for the rear surrounds and bookshelves for the surround back. for 7.1. For 6.1 i would buy the same center you use up front to use in the back.

I have the rti-38s in the back and they sound pretty nice (the openning scene in Saving Private Ryan brings out the best in my surround set up).

Movies that acutally have a discreet track for the Bk. Surround use many transient type sounds for this channel. Its best to use some type of front firing speaker for this. The catch is most DVD's do not have this discreet track, so your processor matrixes a sound track for the Bk. Surround, which usually is more ambient so the FX speakers work well with this, see its a catch and the resulting confusion/debate. I use front firing Bk. Surrounds with F/X side surrounds.

I use just a 5.1 setup right now. I've used 2 different sets of FX speakers (ls/fx and currently fx1000's) and have been happy with both. The bigger the mid speakers in the rear, the more FX details you hear.

Sorry everyone, I had no intention of creating a very lame rhyme in my previous post and apologize profusely.

:) well ok, just dont do it again :D

Also, the size of the speaker has little to do with what gets output, if you are talking about ouput in relation to power, then the applicable spec would be the efficiency rating of the speaker.
