Will the mmc6500's ever sound as good as my rti4s?

I just got the mmc6500s, but right now the rti4's blow them away in sound quality. I have the mmc6500s hooked up to just the hu. Will a good amp be the solution to have them sound as good? Or is it that home theater speakers are better?
Setup:

2 Channel: Vienna Acoustics Mozart Grand, T+A P 1230R, Primare SPA21, Oppo BDP-105
PC: Vienna Acoustics Haydn Grand, Cambridge Azure 650A v2 , Peachtree iDAC, Denon DVD-3800BDCI

    RTi4's are outstanding period.

Also, is your enclosure volume for the 6500's as big as the RTi4's?

Definitely not when running off the head unit. A real amp should improve the sound quite a bit. Although the answer you're looking for is probably never, unless you really want to dedicate some time to rebuilding the interior of your car.

Lets make this a fair comparison...

Take a chair, and your RTi4 and lay it on the floor in a corner, and you sit about 1 foot away infront of it...

    Sound closer?

I know its easier to make home speakers sound better than car speakers, but their still is $1000/pair car speakers I don't think anyone would spend that much just to get quality that equals a $240 pair of speakers right?

I imagine if you put them against the RTi4 in an enclosure and put them at ear level, pointing at you - with a well designed baffle, proper - sealed and tuned enclosure...then YES - it would surpass it probally...

    But... ;)

Dont forget all that wonderful glass and hard plastic that does such wonderful things to sound quality.

Even if you were to take an identical set of RTi4's and install them in your car they wouldnt sound as good and the primary reason for this is all that gawddamned glass and hard plastic reflecting everything and degrading the SQ with every reflection.

Still once you get an amp on those speakers, let them get broken in a bit and fine tune them some they will start to sound much better. Fear not, the MMC6500 is the best speaker on the market under $300.

About 125-150 wpc and 60-70 hours of burn-in will, most likely, have you singing a different tune. :)
