Should this be considered work?

Maybe it's just me.
I work for the government but apparently I can spend my work hours looking for another job within the government. The amount of time spend doing this should be approved by one's supervisor but I think most people here are abusing that policy....they spend hours on end writing resumes, filling out applications, and printing them out on the office printer.
I just don't feel this is right.

That should be considered unemployment.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

Obviously that can't be consider a real job... and the people abusing are just ****!
If your boss give you a couple of hours to go to a interview that's fine, but if you spend your whole day filling out application forms and sending out resumes you're practically stealing your salary...<|> -

That's my thinking exactly. We do get job announcements via e-mail once in a while, but the act of applying should be done on personal time. This just seem too over-the-top for doing personal things during work hours.
Posting on Club Polk is different. -

Off course it is... it helps you to release stress to be a better employee which, at the end, is good for the company you work for...<|> -

Here at my company I can't even make personal phone calls or use the Internet connection to post on the Polk Forum (I guess they don't check on me too often )
What a difference!!!<|> -

I don't make personal phone calls on the office phone neither. However, I have to have the internet connection since we often find out things on the 'net before they make an announcement here (if at all).
