SVS-PB10. Am I making the right choice?

I purchased the SVS-PB10 earlier today, I NEED reassurance that i'm making the right decision before it's shipped.

Here's my situation. When I upgraded from Klipsch speakers to Polk RTi-8's, I replaced the Klipsch KSW-12 (which I was happy with) with the Polk PSW505. Needless to say, I was not impressed by the PSW505.

I'm in audio sales and the retail outlet where I work recently started carrying Velodyne subs a week ago. Since I compare subs pretty often between polk, infinity, jbl, and velodyne subs for customers, I've been rather impressed by the Velodyne subs. I didn't care about bass before as long as it was lound and boomy, but since working in audio sales, I've come to a new appreciation for bass.

Here's what I wanted to know. Since EVERYONE is raving about the SVS PB-10 (and SVS subwoofers in general), is it really worth my while to spend the extra $165 for this sub when I can get the Velodyne DPS-12 for around $325ish with my discount?

Help!? Thanks!

You get 45 days to try out the SVS. Compare it to the Velodyne. If you do not think it is worth it, then package it up and send it back. I know I love mine.

I've got the SVS-PB10 and wouldn't trade it for anything....unless it was a BIGGER SVS....

The DPS12 is a nice sub and for $325 you should take it home to compare with the PB10 :D . Then tell us your thoughts. Of course, this won't work if you can't take the Velo back.

    Combo rig:

Onkyo NR1007 pre-pro, Carver TFM 45(fronts), Carver TFM 35 (surrounds)
    SDA 1C, CS400i, SDA 2B
    PB13Ultra RO
    BW Silvers
    Oppo BDP-83SE

The clean bass of the PB10 is superior to the DPS Velo's. (i used to sell those too)

BTW...some good scenes to try your new purchase out would be:

Finding Nemo - Into the Abyss (Submarine slips down the gully), inside the whale, Darla (Darla taps on the tank)

The Incredibles - Stopping of the Subway, Explosion of the Message, Throwing of the car at the guards, airplane hits the water, the rocket blast off scene, and the final battle with the robot

LOTR - Intro to the Movie where the bad guy explodes, Opening of doors to the dwarf caves, meeting with the cave troll, Any Oliphant scene throughout the trilogy, when Samwise gives Frodo back the ring in the orc camp, and the earthquake at the end when the bad guy is destroyed

Though I can list a thousand more (I have been feverishly purchasing movies for the soundtracks and not the content), these three will definitely test the depth and abilities of your sub while giving you a good comparison of what you will get for your money.

I was talking to Tom at SVS today. Tom is one of the co-owner's of SVS and does technical support. I had a few questions about my PB-12/ISD (Nice subwoofer!) Anyways, Tom told me he uses a PB-10 in his HT setup. So, here's a guy who is part owner of the SVS company, and could have any subwoofer he wants, and he chooses the PB-10. His room is about 21' X12'. He admits that it won't reproduce bass like you were at a concert, but he says it is just fine for his needs.

And they do have the 45 day return policy. You can't lose!

You think too much, it's a huge "bang-for-the-buck" subwoofer. Don't worry, you will be happy.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Thanks for the advice! I think i'll grab the velodyne dps-12 once the pb-10 arrives and compare the two.
