Blown voice coils

hello all

hi I am thinking of buying some vintage speakers of ebay but the bass unit is large and oval so I don’t think spares are available but however if i blow a voice coil could it be fixed???? And what if the rubber surround goes??

My guess is you would be out of luck. The thing to do is to look everywhere on the internet. If the speaker has a following there is a good chance someone out there may have a solution for you. Can you mention what it is?

hmmm...probably not a good idea, imho....see the shape of those drums in the picture? think of the shape of the sound waves from them...now picture the speakers waves....i don't know nuttin though...could be a lot of hooey

the ovel bass driver was to reduce cabinate size

sounds like a design/engineering compromise.....they're are smaller normal drivers that could be set up in pairs, for exmpl

The first step would be to try here and see if the manufacturer is still in business and if they offer replacement parts.

the manufactoror went out in the mid 90's but i will still try the phone number tummorow as it is 9:00pm in the uk.

i tried the number and they are inactive i don’t think i can buy these as the price will most likely go wp quite a bit more than i can really afford.

there is a guy that his expertise are with TDL so if they did break they could be fixed
